Did you try jSPXdec for movie decoding? It should get you results pretty similar to a TV (https://github.com/m35/jpsxdec).
The blog of the author is pretty interesting, too, with color comparisons of the different encoders out there. He even has done some Avisynth upscaling (https://jpsxdec.blogspot.de/2016/07/spu-and-hd-conversion.html).

Thank you so much ! You are the boss ! :p
In the meantime, I found another solution which works, but yours is far better ;)
I used PSmplay to export the SRT files, and then I convert them to the AVI format with the good colors with PSXVideo.

I was so happy, but the colors and the framerate are more precise with your program, so I'm even more happy now ! :D
Excellent program ! ;)
I used these parameters and it's perfect !

What are you basing "correct" colors off of? NTSC is notoriously variable, and no TV was calibrated back then.

I know the new colors are exact, because I perfectly know these games ;)
The mansion in the "Tomb Raider" games has always been with orange bricks. It's not yellow ! :p

https://media.joomeo.com/medium/5b0acfd77038f.jpg (https://media.joomeo.com/large/5b0acfd77038f.jpg)
And in this moment of "Soul Reaver" in the video (the vision of the chronoplast), we can see the future of Raziel who presumably got the Kain Reaver after his fight against Kain. We don't get it in the game, only with cheat codes :) It's not a very good representation, because the Kain Reaver is red and black. I think they didn't want to do too complicated, because it's just a cheat code :D

Update : This is a hacked version. It should have been like this :
http://www.thelostworlds.net/SR1/Images/Amplified_Reaver-Amplified_Reaver-01.JPG
Here it's said : http://www.thelostworlds.net/SR1/The_Debug_Menu.html
"Andrew also added some features of his own, like the ability to swim anywhere (which is very useful for exploring unreachable areas) and a fix for the colour of The Amplified Reaver, which does not otherwise display correctly in the PC version of Soul Reaver."
There is a fire Reaver in the game too, but sure it's not a represensation of this Reaver in the video, because it has nothing special for the history !
https://media.joomeo.com/medium/5b17fe2766526.jpg (https://media.joomeo.com/large/5b17fe2766526.jpg)
And I know all the history of this game ! ;)

The correct way to get videos is via the emulator's own recording function (e.g. BizHawk, RetroArch - both have bsnes cores). That way you get the exact framerate of 5*7*9 / 88 * 6 * 10^6 / 1364 / 524 * 2 = 60.098 fps, and no frame drops/duplications.
I rethought to this story of correct framerate for the Super Nes games. Do you know with what emulator I could record videos with this exact framerate of 60,098 fps ?
(it's said 60,0988 fps here : http://nerdlypleasures.blogspot.com/2017/01/classic-systems-true-framerate.html)
Thanks ! :)
Note : So, if I understand, the output resolution of the Super Nes was 341x261 pxls ?
It explains why the resolution in Hegan is 1170x896. It's the same with the Super NT too (1170x896, but with the black bars it gives 1170x960) !

The output resolution is 525 (263/262) interlaced lines, just like every other NTSC unit in existence. The horizontal resolution is defined more by the number of phosphors than the signal, but the maximum Nyquist resolution of the 15.7KHz was around 700 dots (thus 704 or 720 DVB/DVD standards). Of those 525 lines, a maximum of 480 and more often 450 contained any image data, where every other line was usually doubled from 240/225 lines generated internally. Internally, the horizontal resolution is generally 256, which is doubled to 512. There's also the interlaced 240x480 mode that was at the time unique to the SNES, but hardly ever used due to complexity and limited processing power. Likewise a of "512x240" mode where instead of each pixel being doubled, they're blended; this mode is much more commonly used since it doesn't increase complexity and processing power much, and another real 512x240 mode where backgrounds really were rendered in high resolution, but not foregrounds (sprites). After all of that, the SNES pads the video with the proper amount of blank pixels and lines, and the special sync lines every TV requires.
341x261 sounds like a misunderstanding of NTSC and SNES processing, thinking that it's the TV that does the resolution doubling, rather than the SNES itself. The resolution of every game on the SNES is 256x240 or 256x225, or a few using partial 512x240, outside of the handful of demos that used the 256x480 interlaced mode. How you want to refer to the final upsized frame size is up to you, but that seems unnecessarily esoteric when it's really 1024x896 padded out to some NTSC-friendly value.

Hello everybody ! :p
I created a new script (I know...) based on a simple idea. I took like a reference the sequences of the chronoplast from the PS1 version of Soul Reaver, because they have the particularity of having been realised with the engine of the game on PS1 (but not in real time of course, because they are videos), and my goal was to give them a look like the PC version of the game.
I don't know if I'm clear, so I will show you examples.

A little precision !
With the videos with a resolution of 320x240, I tested this script :
AviSource()
ConvertToRGB32
ChangeFPS(30)
Spline16Resize(2560, 1920)
xBRZ(2)
GaussResize(11520, 8640, p=50)
BicubicResize(2880, 2160)
Instead of this :
AviSource()
ConvertToRGB32
ChangeFPS(30)
Spline16Resize(1280, 960)
xBRZ(2)
GaussResize(5760, 4320, p=50)
BicubicResize(2880, 2160)
But with a resolution upsized 8 times with the Spline16Resize instead of 4 times, I found that the picture became a bit unnatural and less close to the "PC game look" that I was looking for.
So I keep always the same logic :
- resolution 4X with Spline16Resize
- xBRZ 2X
- GaussResize a bit more than 2X, used to correct the aspect ratio sometimes, with a resolution that is a multiple of the 2160p resolution
- BicubicResize to reduce the resolution to the ouput resolution

Hello everybody :)
I'm not here for new scripts... OK, I lied ! :D
I think at last I found my perfect script ! :p I had chance, because I almost missed it ! I was on something different (but as usual, I wasn"t completely satisfied), but I thought about something and did some researches.
I compared a video of Soul Reaver on PS1 displayed on a PVM with a capture I did from the PC version :
https://media.joomeo.com/medium/5b26f39a3c5f0.jpg (https://media.joomeo.com/large/5b26f39a3c5f0.jpg)
(video source : PS1: Soul Reaver + Sony PVM 14M4E (https://youtu.be/HMvZnHxPqe4))
We can see that the textures are smoother on the PC version than on the PS1 version and its ugly textures.
However, we have almost the same impression of quality with the PS1 version, because it's on a PVM !
So I wondered if the textures were thought to be perfectly adapted to the display on a CRT TV and if the resolution of them was different between the PS1 and PC version.
I searched, and in fact NO ! The resolution of the textures are exactly of 256x256 for the PS1 and the PC version and looks identical. Not in the game of course, but in the source.
So I conclued that the difference was because of the texture filtering, so with a bilinear or trilinear filter.
It's why I decided to use the bilinear filter ;)
I didn't use it at the beginning of the scrit, because it's too soft, but I used it at the second position.
This time, I didn't use the Spline16 resizernat first, but the Bicubic with "b=0" and "c=0.75", because I found that the result was closer to the original in terms of relief and texture.
Here is for example the result of my last script (I called it "New century style" :D ) with Super Mario World, compared to the game displayed on a Sony PVM :
https://media.joomeo.com/medium/5b26f9d519167.jpg (https://media.joomeo.com/large/5b26f9d519167.jpg)
(video source : Super Mario World on a Sony PVM vs a standard CRT television (https://youtu.be/MDkOSuXoFVw)
I think it's perfect now ! :p The picture is soft but clear, well-balanced I find ! :)
I newer liked the bilinear filter, but I love it today ! :D

I need a "2xSaI" filter :p
Does it exist for AviSynth ?
It's the filter I prefer for pixel art !
Thanks for your help ! ;)

Hello my friends ! :)
I'm back ! :D
I realized that there are lots of possibilities to upscale the image, that we can get very good results and nothing is really wrong or better.
So I decided to look for the more balanced result, not the best looking picture. I abandonned a bit my extravagant ideas and aimed a more simple logic ;)
But before this illumination, I still did another script :p
I just will post it too, because maybe somebody could like it, I don't know ! :)
And after that, I will post my very last script (maybe... you know me)!
And maybe in the next days, I will do some videos for these scripts too ;)
OK. Let's go ! (lot of work)
Name of the scripts : Restoration style

And NOW... my last scripts ! :p
I just want to quickly explain the logic of my scripts.
I found that I got the closest result to the original picture with the "BicubicResize(b=0, c=0.75, x, y)" filter in the higher resolutions.
I get an improvement, but I stay close to the original too :)
So I used it ! :p
But after, instead of the "GaussResize" filter, to change the aspect ratio, I noticed that I got better results with the "BilinearResize" filter. In addition, it smoothes the picture too ! So it's perfect ! ;)
And at the end, I downsize the picture with a simple "BicubicResize" filter.
When I compared the picture of my upscale with the picture of "Mr. Nutz" displayed on a CRT screen, I find it's quite similar, nothing disturbing I think :)

I haven't explained yet the logic of my last script (Evolved style) ! :p
It's simple, it's like always ! ^_^
I wanted to give to the image a modern look, so without scanlines, but which doesn't denature too much the original look and feeling.
It was like moving to this (PS1 on a Sony PVM) :
https://media.joomeo.com/medium/5aff68631ab0f.jpg (https://media.joomeo.com/large/5aff68631ab0f.jpg)
to this (screenshot of the PC version) :
https://media.joomeo.com/medium/5aff689c15d89.jpg (https://media.joomeo.com/large/5aff689c15d89.jpg)
Or to this to this :
https://media.joomeo.com/medium/5b26f39a3c5f0.jpg (https://media.joomeo.com/large/5b26f39a3c5f0.jpg)
Or here the PS1 version to the PC version :p :
https://media.joomeo.com/medium/5aff6d0db254d.jpg (https://media.joomeo.com/large/5aff6d0db254d.jpg)
But as I said before, there is no difference with the resolution of the textures between the PS1 and the PC version of Soul Reaver or Tomb Raider.
The only difference is the texture filtering.
It's why I still used the Bilinear resizer in my script. But I found that the result was better when I doubled the horizontal resolution with the Bilinear filter compared to the vertical resolution. It was more like "it's adapted to a display without scanlines" ! ;)
It was totally my goal ! I don't know if it's perfect, but I think we can better forget with the image of my last script that we should have scanlines to correctly display the sprites of the Super Nes games, like if it was thought for a modern display.
What do you think ? Yes ? No ? :D
And I used xBRZ too just to modernize a bit the image. So voilą ! :p

Hello :)
I just want to say that finally I retained the script named "Continuum style" :p
(Finally, it wasn't a bad idea to name them, because it's easy to remember I think :D )
When I compared to the other videos I made, I was surprised to find that it was the video of that script that I found the most natural.
It's not the most extravagant script, or the better image, but it's really the more balanced and natural I think ! :)
Here is the video : AviSynth script - Continuum style (https://youtu.be/Za-hm0Oq-Es)
Playlist of all the videos of scripts : Test AviSynth scripts (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLL_S06Mn5k4mRZ1a50jW3G7DVYqx9NhoT)
The posts with the scripts and the screenshots :
Scripts for the videos of Super Nintendo games (https://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1845768&postcount=268)
Scripts for the videos of PS1/PS2/PC games (https://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1845770&postcount=269)
I just updated one thing for the Super Nes games with 8:7 aspect ratio !
I prefered to put this line :
BilinearResize(5640, 4320)
Instead of this one :
BilinearResize(4936, 4320)
So the script for the games with 8:7 aspect ratio is :
AviSource()
BicubicResize(b=0, c=0.75, 2468, 2160)
BilinearResize(5640, 4320)
BicubicResize(2468, 2160)
I think, it reminds better the image of the original console, because it never was been thought to be displayed in an other aspect ratio than 4:3 I would say.
So, It reminds better the feeling of the original games in 4:3 aspect ratio, but the aspect ratio is corrected in 8:7 with the Bicubic filter at the end to be displayed correctly (games like "Mr. Nutz", "Super Metroid" or "Super Mario World for example).
This update isn't shown in the video or the screenshots.
OK. So it's finished ! :p
I won't bother you any more with my scripts ! ;) Adios ! :D
And thanks for your help ! :)

Hi everybody :) ,
I know I already said 1 million times that it's the last time, I know it's not my blog, and I know I'm a bit crazy (when I re-read some of old posts, I know I reacted like an obsessed person, but I was, because I had a goal in my mind, and I'm perfectionist) ! ^_^
But just after my previous script, I did one that was quite acceptable for me and that I called "Forever style" :p But I won't hide from you that meanwhile, I created some other scripts, because I always ask myself if I can do better.
But, this time, I always come back to this script that I will show you ;)
But sometimes, the only other script with I can hesitate is the one called "Vivid style", which looks more natural on my smartphone with the Super AMOLED screen. It's why I enhanced it too and called it "Revival style". Maybe I will post it too... ^_^
I know some people don't like the fact that I post all my new scripts, but when I think it's good, I can't keep this just for me. Sorry !
If one day there will be some other new scripts, I swear that I won't post them here !
But this time I really think that it will be the lasts, because I have the impression that I tried everything ! :)
And I think I got the natural result that I wanted. It will be hard to do better for me.
So, I will post them !

As I said above, I enhanced a previous script called "Vivid style" too, and called it "Revival style" ;)
I haven't done the screenshots and the video yet, so I couldn't post it. But it's done now ! :p
The is no big differences with the "Forever style" script ! For me, it's 2 versions of a same script, my 2 lasts... :)
The only difference is that I used the Bilinear filter instead of the xBRZ after the Spline16 resizer. If you compare the last pictures of "Mr. Nutz" and zoom in, maybe you won't see any difference. It's subtle !
(but there are differences, because the weight of the video files are heavier with the "Forever" script and the "Revival" a bit faster for encoding ^_^ )
The "Forever" script is a bit more dynamic and sharper, and the "Revival" is a bit more smooth and natural I think !
On my LCD screen, I prefered the "Forever" script, but on the Super AMOLED screen of my Samsung smartphone, I prefered the smoothness and the depth of the "Revival script" as I said above ;)
Because I use the Bilinear filter with the "Revival" script, I corrected the aspect ratio with it instead of the Spline16 filter, and go to a resolution multiple of the 1080p resolution with it too.
But for the rest, it's almost identical as you will see ! ;)

The screenshot comes from this video (720p) on YouTube : https://youtu.be/56LNqF6fL2s
I watched a lot of videos of Super Nes games, and the videos of the guy were the only that I found interesting.
It's the last thing that I would like to know ! :)
I suppose that it's not an upscaled video, but a filter used in the emulator. I already asked him, but he answers something else... I think he didn't really undestand my strange question ! :D
In any case, from the beginning, I knew exactly what I wanted, but I didn't know how to get this result ! :(
(yes, it's for that that it was so long and tedious ! sorry ! :scared: but you know now that I had a vision ! :D )
My script called "Revival" is not so far from that :
https://media.joomeo.com/medium/5b7c451e6e4df.jpg (https://media.joomeo.com/large/5b7c451e6e4df.jpg)
https://media.joomeo.com/original/5b7c451e6e4df.png
By the way, isn't it impressive how it looks almost similar ? Coincidence ? :) I didn't know that it was so close. I notice that now, when I compare the two pictures ;)
So, I really know what I like !
But I don't know what picture is the best ! Maybe the relief of my picture is not as good as the first picture  The screenshot from the video seems more natural and clean for me ! If I could get this with only one filter, it would be cool too ! :p
But for the moment, I don't know how to do better ! Do you have an idea please ? :)
What filter do you think it is ?
Thanks for your help ! ;)

Look, nobody give a shit about your experience on upscaling 20x the resolution with a bilinear resizer. Nobody give a shit about your sharing of how 1+1=2, where you feel so excited about. You're not contributing anything to the community except constant spamming posts and draining people's cell data with your massively pointless images where nobody understand.
If you want to write out every single pointless thing you did, get yourself a website and spam there all you want, not here, this is not your personal blog.

People are speaking out because you have been polluting the forum with your stupidity for months. Nobody need you to tell them about the result of bilinear resizer because everybody KNEW that already. I repeat, we KNEW that already. Nobody need you to tell him 1+1=2, this is just plain stupid. And if you would had spent the time to actually learn the basic of avisynth instead of months of busy spamming the thread, you would had found that out yourself.

I think I have waited long enough before calling you out now. People were nice enough to not to tell you straight how stupid your scripts were and hoped that you discover it yourself. But it looks like you're unable to realize that judging from the fact that you have kept on spamming for the last 3 months and kept throwing cheap shot insults at people who tried to hint you. So now I'm going to make sure you know: your script is stupid and stop spamming it as if it's worth anything.

Yes, I am a noob ! :)
But it would have been more interesting if more people have tried to participate to the game. Some people have proposed interesting things and I learned lots of things with them, even if I'm still a noob ! :p

This was too (very) :
https://i.imgur.com/8ocuOMm.png
And there were lots of other interesting things, like this function (thanks raffriff 42 ! that was really great ! I kept it somewhere !) :
##################################
function GaussResize2(clip C, int target_width, int target_height,
\ float "src_left", float "src_top", float "src_width", float "src_height",
\ float "px", float "py")
{
px = Default(px, 30.0)
py = Default(py, px)
R = C.GaussResize(target_width, C.Height,
\ src_left, 0, src_width, 0, px)
\ .GaussResize(target_width, target_height,
\ 0, src_top, 0, src_height, py)
return R
}
And some others ;) Thanks to these people !
So, with my stupidy, maybe some people learned new things, when you participated !
And maybe, I could have achieved my goal faster, and moved on quickly ! Sure that with all your knowledge, we can achieve this better and faster !
I'm aware not always having been clear, but I didn't know what I can hope to achieve... (and by the way, sometimes it can be hard to express this in English)
At least, there were some animation on these forums with my stupidities ! :D
