View Full Version : Need Direction: How To Speed Up Playback in MPC-HC

For the life of me, I have tried everything that I can figure out in MPC-HC to enable playing my videos back at an faster playback speed.

No matter what I try in any of the Options settings, nothing works.

When I open a video in VLC or WMP, the option is quite evident and the videos DO play at the increased speed that I tell it to.

Can anyone here please help me, I've search the internet for a solution to this problem, and cannot find one??

The reason that I am interested in this is because of this article::

"I have found a new way to watch TV, and it changes everything"

Seriously? Three ways to do it:
1. Menu "Play" -> "Increase Rate"
2. Button "Increase Speed" on the control tool bar
3. Shortcut "Ctrl Up"

Yes, seriously.

None of the ways do what you say, when I click "increase rate" nothing happens. When I click "reset rate" I see a "Speed: 1.00x." There is no indication in the upper right corner of a speed increase whn I click "Increase rate" or do it via the other 2 ways you mention.

Which I why I posted here so as perhaps gain some insight as to what is going on, and why it doesn't work.

(Thanks for the reply)

If it doesn't work it means on of the filters in the chain does not support rate changes.

Found the setting you were looking for...i was also having an issue, and then thought to check the internal settings...

Go to View > Options > Playback
Under "Control", you'll see "Volume Step" and then "Speed Step". Volume Step is set at 5% increase, while Speed Step is set to Auto. I think the Auto setting doubles the speed (100%) each time you increase it.

To adjust to your liking, simply change the setting from Auto to the % you wish, and it will increase from 1.00 by that % each time you increase the step.

For example, 10% will increase by 10% each step (from 1.00 to 1.10, then 1.20, etc)...20% will increase by 20% each step also...so you get the idea.

The smaller each step, the better you can fine tune to your liking.

Good luck!
