I don't currently own a PC BD drive at all, but am looking for an external (USB) unit for playing BD's and for verifying the manufacturing quality of BD films. A BD-Rom/Combo drive would be good enough, as I don't plan to burn anything. I know Lite-On, Plextor, BenQ, etc. drives are usually capable of verifying disk quality and have read that anything with a "Mediatek chip" will work. But designs change and I found a 2011 thread on this group suggesting that Pioneer drives are crap, so am looking for suggestions for current models that meet my needs, are built well, and hopefully don't cost too much. Any help?
