OK! I have a video file from Flask and a 5.1 Audio file from Vstrip. How do I merge these files into one AVI? Is there a better way than I have used? I have looked at VirtualDub but the options stop at fairly low level stereo.
Thanks

I think we are making progress. I got through the whole process. The finished product did not generate any audio. I have Pioneer DTS EX Dolby Digital receiver in my home theatre. I think I need a sound card capable of generating the output of 5.1 to the receiver. I have a PC sound card that is several years old (Stereo Sound). Does this make sense? It would be nice if my receiver could do all the work.
Thanks for the help. Trial and error has been a good learning experience.

To get Dolby Digital sound you either need a soundcard with 6ch analog output (decoding by soundcard/software) or SPDIF digital output (decoding by amp). With a stereo output you will only get Dolby Surround (Pro Logic).

Man, if you have a DTS EX receiver, then it's a shame to pair it with a sound card several years old, and stereo too. Buy a card capable of SPDIF output if you're going to use AC3 in your rips.
About your original question: if you want to keep the AC3 soundtrack, then follow the guide in the above link. If you want to use a more space-saving mp3 stereo track, follow this guide (http://www.doom9.org/ac3tomp3.htm).
