View Full Version : Help with framerate cleanup

I'm trying to come up with a script that will output something close to a progressive framerate for this video (http://www.spirton.com/uploads/Unsorted/20160507-sample.mkv) but it seems unusual. There's a lot of blending in the material and it doesn't seem consistent. Has anyone seen this before?
I've used:
tfm()
TDecimate(mode=1)
and that looks okay but I wonder if there's a better option.

It's field blended and was never telecined. So IVTCing is the wrong thing to do. Unfortunately, it has way too many blends to unblend successfully. I'm having trouble even figuring out the correct framerate, but I think it's 23.976fps. If so, this should produce better results than TIVTC:
Yadif(mode=1)#or the better QTGMC
AssumeFPS(59.94)
SRestore(Frate=23.976)
Also, when providing samples from a DVD, a piece of VOB or M2V would be better. For me anyway.

Why is that so sped up? Looks like 24fps was sped up to 30fps and then blended, because I remember the original pace of the animation and that's not even close.

Then you'll have to fix the audio.
e: Why is adding assumefps(48) making it come out significantly larger?
QTGMC(preset="slower")

Adjusting keint and min keint so 48fps uses the same 600/60 doesn't change anything.

The speed seems fine to me, though this particular scene is a bit frantic. I posted that so it would be easier to identify which script settings to use. I could post a more normal scene if you want.
x264 CRF takes framerate into account when calculating its allocation.

You seem to be right. The sped up, 19 minute version on Youtube has that segment take 12 seconds, so your 15 seconds would be about right for the correct running time.
Anyway, you're probably safest deinterlacing to 60fps and keeping it there. You can try srestore, but definitely check its result against 60fps by watching them together. srestore doesn't always come out with the smoothest result.
