Where to Find Creative Commons Images on Video Compression?

Hi!

I'm in the finishing stages of writing my master's thesis on HEVC. I have figures sprinkled throughout the text but I just became aware that many of them are copyrighted and cannot be used.

Now my question: Where do you guys find creative commons / open-source images regarding image and video compression in general, and HEVC specifically? I'm looking for figures to give readers a quick introduction to things like inter prediction, for example.

I tried Wikipedia/Wikimedia but their search function leaves a few things to be desired. It appears that their library of video compression material is also severely limited.

Try Google advanced image search (https://www.google.com/advanced_image_search), selecting appropriate "usage rights."

- video compression motion compensation (https://www.google.com/search?as_st=y&tbm=isch&as_q=video+compression+motion+compensation&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&cr=&as_sitesearch=&safe=images&tbs=sur:fc)

- video compression intraframe (https://www.google.com/search?as_st=y&tbm=isch&as_q=video+compression+motion+compensation&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&cr=&as_sitesearch=&safe=images&tbs=sur:fc#as_st=y&tbs=sur:fc&tbm=isch&q=video+compression+intraframe)

(EDIT double check the image licenses, as Google can be wrong)

There's a CC site to search for some CC images:
https://search.creativecommons.org/
Varying sources, including some actual HD/HiRes images.
It will search existing places for you, like Flickr (which has CC categories).

But if you got nowhere to start or what you want to search for (instead of typing in random words), you can go to Flickr directly and search their site based on copyrights:

https://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

But, they don't really sort by resolution or anything. And you can spend days clicking page-by-page.
