MPC-HC audio pitch with increased speed

I've been looking through MPC-HC (Windows), but don't see a way for the "increase rate" feature to work without a chipmunk audio effect.

VLC has managed this forever, so surely MPC-HC can, right? If not, why not?

The most recent discussion of this I found was from 2011 (http://www.cccp-project.net/forums/index.php?topic=5281.0), when installing ReClock was actually recommended.

Surely there's another way these days. If not though, how little of ReClock can be installed? The choices include a bunch of things like DSound/Wave, Arsoft TMT3/5/6, and various for PowerDVD (which I assume are definitely N/A).

There's no such thing as "little of reclock" . Either you install it or you don't. There's no slices of it.
BTW ,it 's working on 32bit only ,so you must install the 32bit(x86) version of MPC-HC in order to load reclock as audio renderer.
Although if you're planning to double the play speed of the file and to preserve the audio pitch not even reclock can handle that.

Latest stable 1.7.10 has new internal audio renderer that at least tries to do that. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=166689

@edigee, I was just referring to the 10 or so optional items presented to you when running ReClock 1.8.8.5 Setup. I mentioned it more in passing than anything else, as I was curious.

Thanks for the 32-bit only tip (I hadn't seen that).

I wasn't planning on doing 2x, more 1.1 to 1.5x, which you can do when setting the player on a "speed step" of 10% (not sure why that isn't a default when 2x, which is what you get when you leave it on the "auto" default, is completely unusable).

@YxP, that's the version I'm using. Sure enough, the release notes say "Tries to preserve signal pitch when playing at custom rate (time stretching)."

However, it goes right to chipmunk even at 1.1, which is as low a setting that anyone would plausibly use (in VLC, I can't even tell 1.0 and 1.1 apart, they're that similar to each other).

Are you sure you have selected internal audio renderer? It works pretty good for me. Also, try the latest nightlies. I'm using the latest nightly myself. https://nightly.mpc-hc.org/

That was the problem (it sounds fine now)! It defaults to "system default," where the one you want is all the way at the bottom (12th).

Thanks. I haven't used this program in many, many years, but even then don't think I ever changed that setting.

(Speed Step being on Auto is the first roadblock, with its puzzling Auto default.)
