Could someone tell me, how can I see speaker count and position for Dolby Atmos track?
Like mediainfo does for DTS Master Audio / Dolby TrueHD tracks
Channel(s) : 8 / 6
Channel(s) : 8 channels / 6 channels
Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, Back: L R, LFE / Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE
Channel positions : 3/2/2.1 / 3/2/0.1
ChannelLayout : L C R LFE Ls Rs

dolby atoms doesn't have these information. it works different and is meant to be mixed in realtime to your setup.

Ok, I agree, but how it works without channel position?
My player sends to my receiver Dolby Atmos and the receiver says "Dolby TrueHD 3/4.1"
My friend has the same player and he has tested a higher class receiver that says "Dolby Atmos"
At least how many channels are in the audio track?

Apparently your receiver doesn't support Atmos. Atmos is virtually never paired alone but comes with TrueHD. If your receiver doesn't support Atmos, it falls back to TrueHD
if your receiver says 3/4.1, obviously it means 7.1 audio for the TrueHD part

What is your receiver?
Do you have ceiling speakers installed?

It is a low class Sony. My question was how can I see channels and their count. I know that my receiver doesn't support Dolby Atmos

I'm talking about some computer info / software like eac3to, not how to play it or what my equipment supports :)

Atmos does not have use fixed speakers. It stores audio objects with 3D positional and movement information. The receiver is then supposed calculate the output for your individual speaker setup from that.

Ok. So there is no matter how many channels supports my new receiver, right? If it is 9.1 I can decide will it be 7.1.2 or 5.1.4?

Of course, read the manual.
Or put the exact model and we can read the manual for you.

I've looked of Onkyo TX-NR646 (it has a support for Atmos up to 5.1.2). The idea of my question is what and how many will I loose if buy 7.1 instead 9.1 receiver?

Short answer: not much.
Of course is better a 11.2 (7.2.4) but with a 7.1 (5.1.2) you can enjoy your 3D audio.
Is the same question than with 2D audio, 7.1 is better than 5.1, but 5.1 is more than enough to listen surround audio.
You only have 2 ears, with 5 speakers you can have a correct image of 2D audio, and with 7 speakers you can have a correct image of 3D audio.
Spend your money in good speakers, not in many speakers.
Of course if you have enough money for good and many speakers the commercial vendors become very happy.

What happened when the receiver supports Dolby Atmos and I tell to it "I have 5.1.0 speaker config" i.e. no Atmos ceiling speakers - it will turn back to a compatible Dolby TrueHD 7.1 downmix to 5.1 or it still make calculations for Dolby Atmos and do the sound emitting with available speakers?

Without ceiling speakers can't do calculations, and I suposse ignore Atmos metadata decoding the thd in standard way.
You can't have 3D sound without ceiling speakers.

I suppose this question needs to be asked to the engineers from Yamaha, Onkyo or Pioneer and so :) ?
Thanks for the information, it was very helpful for me.
I will try and share the information.
