Hi all,
we are asked to create a BD with audio tracks & and IG with info for each one.
The audio we want to use is 192Khz at 24bit.
What is the codec to use in order to avoid incompatibilities?
Does anyone have any kind of experience with 192/24? Limitations/things to avoid or things to do?
Will it work if we have just one track i.e DTSHD only?
Thanks,

DTS (even HD) may have some issues with certain chipsets.
So for compatibility you have to use TrueHD or LPCM :)

Thank you,
Scenarist does not allow one LPCM stream at 192/24. You HAVE to add another LPCM
at 48/24, maybe even at 96/24 max, as primary and the 192/24 as secondary.
Now, THD is the one I found that has a chipset problem!
Tried it on a SONY BDP S373 and it literally crashed! I had to unplug it to make it work again.
Second test, the same.
So, it only leaves me with the DTSHD. If you say that has a compatibility issue also, then I have a serious problem!!!
Any recommendations?!
Thanks.

Out of interest...
What are the properties of the audio source that requires you to generate a 192/24 encode?

What do you mean? The source file is a PCM Stereo 192/24.

He meant whether you really need to have 192/24, assuming you have a lower resolution audio.

Oh, okay! That's what the client send us as source. If their source was lower, I have no idea!

Re: Blu-ray disc authoring with video
If you haven't got the tools to create a either a mandatory Dolby TrueHD stream with basic Dolby Digital core or a DTS-HD MA stream with basic DTS core, then from what I remember the inclusion of a basic 48KHz Dolby Digital (AC3) or basic 48KHz DTS audio stream as the primary audio stream is okay.
You can then add the multi-channel 192/24-bit PCM stream as the secondary audio stream...
It shouldn't be too difficult to generate a basic compliant 48KHz Dolby Digital or DTS stream from your high-resolution PCM source.
Any Blu-ray menus will need to be encoded with compliant audio too...

Yes, I know that, the question is if I can have ONLY one audio stream and avoid having a second.
So, will DTSHD 192/24 as the only stream be OK?
Thanks!

Mandatory support for internal player decoders are 48 and 96 kHz LPCM files only - this is why Scenarist gives a warning.
You should use 192/24 DTS-HD MA stream.
DTS-HD MA consists of a lossy DTS core (48kHz) and one or more extensions. (see here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1694594#post1694594))
Every player can decode at least the core stream.

Thanks!I must admit I'm not aware seeing a conventional Blu-ray A/V disc with such a high resolution DTS-HD MA audio stream as the only audio stream. But as long as the basic DTS core is present I can't think of any reason why it would not be permissible.
That being said, from what I understand Blu-ray Audio/HFPA (ie: audio only) discs do allow 192KHz/24-bit PCM streams as the only 'primary stream'.

DTSHD only it is then!
Thank you guys very much!
