I shoot home-videos (my kid) using Sony HDR CX 405 camera (AVCHD, 1080p, 50fps). The movies are copied to PC using USB, they have an .MTS extension. Each file has a video, an audio (AAC) and an subtitle (timestamp) track. Each file plays OK on computer (I use Media Player Classic HD).
I tried to join them using mkvtoolnix (GUI), selecting only video and audio tracks. The join finishes without errors, but the video does not play start-to-finish. The length of movie (time) is less than the sum of parts. Weird stuff: Mediainfo reports one audio track on source files and two audio tracks on joined file.
Alternatively, I tried to convert first the sources, using Handbrake, to 1080p/x264/25fps (MKV) but I get the same issue. Changing the video codec to MPEG4 or the container to MP4 results the same.
I also tried Adobe Premiere Elements, and the final (joined) file is OK, but I don't like the speed of the conversion.
Hints ?
