Hello everyone, nice to meet you all :)

I have a home theatre PC setup with Emby for WMC. I use MPC-HC as an external player which is perfect for me apart from one thing...

When I play music (or any other audio files) I like to use Morphyre Music Visualizer. Is there any way I can use this program with MPC-HC?

I did put this question to Morphyre a while ago, this was the response....

Will MPC-HC support WinAmp plugins? It's a really simple API so it's by far the easiest way for developers to support a whole range of visualisations (even though WinAmp itself is unmaintained now).

I'm not sure if it does, but the developers might possibly be persuaded to support it as it isn't a great deal of work.

The other option is just to use WinAmp, click 'Open Location' and type LineIn://. You may have to mess with your sound recording settings, but you can then get Morphyre to play in response to the music from whatever player you have running...

Hope that helps!

So is it possible?? If so, how do I do it????
(I will happily admit I have no clue when it comes to WinAmp so please treat me as a complete idiot if you refer to it in your reply).

One final thing...... this is the only unsolved issue I have with my htpc (at the moment I'm using Windows Media Player for all audio playback :(). If any of you can help to resolve this for me you will be my absolute favourite people in the world!!!!!!

HUGE thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer me.

Best wishes

Flanity xx

The ffdshow audio processor (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout/files/SVN%20builds%20by%20clsid/) supports winamp plugins. You would use it as an intermediate direct-show filter in MPC-HC.

Thank you so much for your reply.
I would have thanked you sooner but for my HDD failing... ARRRGGGHHH!!!!!

I will admit that I'm confused by your answer (my lack of knowledge on API) but I will do some googling and learning.... it's got me this far, haha.

Huge thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I'm off to do some reading me thinks :)

ffdshow does not support visualization plugins. Only certain audio processing plugins.
