Hi,
I was thinking about testing various denoisers in vapoursynth with 4k, 16 bit camera footage, and took a look at Tears of Steel (for example https://media.xiph.org/tearsofsteel/tearsofsteel-4k-tiff/), however this Sony F65 footage looks like crap to me. It's noisy and posterized even in bright light. I wanted something noiseless that I could add synthetic noise to to see if denoising can retain details.

So I'm looking for something more modern, perhaps Red footage? I'd like to get the raw film frames (exr, tiff, doesn't matter), a scene with a sharp, in-focus closeup with details, and little noise.

Was planning on adding a really good film grain, not the fake type with script approximations, and also digital camera noise, to see how denoisers handle the two types.

*for an example of how bad it is, see https://media.xiph.org/tearsofsteel/tearsofsteel-4k-tiff/graded_edit_07630.tif It'll load directly in windows, and loads in Gimp. Either way, posteration on the side of his face, lots of noise in the blurred out background. Colour noise on his stubble.

Show off tests. Maybe you'll have some brief footage. Are you going to do downscaling?

Try Sintel - it's CGI with zero film grain.

maybe find an 8k camera and shoot some 8k clip and scale it down to 4k, and it will be "noiseless"
(RED WEAPON, is it 8k?)

I should've said, finding CGI frames is easy, but I think people here would be more interested to see how desnoisers work with live footage. And I don't have access to a cinema camera myself, though I could rent one for $200/day :)

I was thinking of Big Buck Bunny actually, but the geometry in CGI tends to be simple to save time in animating, so I don't find areas of fine detail I can pixel peep. In live action, I'd be looking at iris patterns or skin texture.

CGI is exception... can't be used to evaluate anything except CGI biased things...
