Is this realy 29.970 pregressive?

I have a video clip that MeGUI/DGIndex say is 29.970 progressive. I have never seen it before.

How can I be sure of this?

I know you guys can tell like almost right away. But how do you do this?

I can only tell if something is interlaced if I see lines in the video but that's about it.

Would their be a benefit to converting it to 25 or 23.976 fps? But then what would I do with the sound?

I would post a sample but can not seem to get it smaller than 433 kb. Which is still to big to upload.

All forums have a size limit.
It's better to use external host for sharing samples.

You can cut a sample and upload to an external host like MediaFire, MEGA, etc.
Google Drive or Microsoft cloud is usually tricky to post the proper link for sharing. I've seen most people have to go through several trials and errors before it gets posted correctly.

MediaFire is decent.
MEGA can be an issue for some people, depending what add-ons, plugins and browsers they are using.

If you like your videos to jerk, yes. Otherwise, no.

But then what would I do with the sound?

Why would you think you'd have to do anything with the sound?

Another reason I wonder about the video is because when I play it the running time is 1h 31m 33s.

But when I rip it with MKVMake the running time is: 1h 31m 38s.

I should just force film it.

oh damm it I think MeGUI has massed up grrr I think I need to reinstall it.

I used to use DGIndex to force film. But I switched to MakeMKV so am not sure what I do in a script to force film .

Why would you force film on a 30fps source? That's 30fps progressive. Don't do anything with the frame rate.

ZenMystic is correct. It has soft 3:2 pulldown so Force Film is the right thing to do.
