Hi, I'm trying to restore a weird reverb/echo from a DVD I have, but I don't know if this can be done or not. I've read that echo and things like these are impossible to remove, but I'm not sure if that's my case because is not actually an echo but a repetition of the sound.

Here's a sample so you guys can heart it and determine what kind of effect this is and if there's any solution. I've been trying for a couple of hours but I'm stuck.

There are to phrases, the first one has no effect, but for any reason the second has it, the word "Scott" more specifically, and the effect continues until the end of the movie.

Here's a YT link with the full audio track of the movie, in castillian, the language with the problem:

The problem starts at 56:03, so you can compare the audio before and after, with and without the damn effect.

Thanks in advance!

After 146 reads seems nobody can help you.

I download your sample and is a stereo with FL ~ FR (peak difference less than -53 dB).
There are a click at point than change the behaviour you say, maybe is the origen of problem but I don't know how restore.

Most of these FX are delays, varying per scene and source.
You may try to set up compensating delays for the most offending scenes, tune their timing to match (don't forget EQing) and subtract.
This horror soundtrack has been treated this way intentionally (lots of delay) to give the maximum strange and evil impression, so well...
To further remove reverb and source-dependent FX there are plugins like Synaptic Unveil (sufficient for removal of unwanted ambience they say), Dyvision Reverb Remover, SPL DeVerb (all $$$).
If these work for delays, who knows. You may try these, I did not yet.

Indeed there's a deliberated effect, but sometimes it is really annoying, like with clicks and other normal hit sounds. I will take the original audio track for the normal sound effects and replace them in the spanish one. Thanks for the all the help guys.
