Hi, while ripping one of my dvds, I noticed that all chapters come together, I want to split them up individually / cut them at my own pleasure. How can I do that without touching in the actual rip?
Thank you!

You can do it with DVDShrink. Set it's target output size to something large in preferences (ie DVD9 or greater) if you just want to use it for ripping/editing, so you don't need to worry about it "shrinking" anything.
Open a folder of ripped DVD files. Switch to DVDShrink's re-author mode. In the right pane there'll be a title or several. Usually corresponding to a movie or episode etc. Drag a title from the right pane to the left. Click on the edit button at the top of the left pane. You can easily edit the title down to a single chapter. You can drag the same title over multiple times if need be and edit each copy differently. When you're done, use the backup function. For each edited title, you'll have a single vob file (or set of vob files, but you can tell DVDShrink not to split them into 1GB segments if they're larger than 1GB).

... cut them at my own pleasure....
That is rather tricky. YOu can cut at chapter marks or even at GOP marks, using eg DVDshrink, but if you want to cut at frame-accuracy you need a real video editor - or a "smart" cutter. You may want to have a look at videohelp for a selection of free and/or affordable tools.

Hi, you speak of vob, but I have a mkv, you see i already did the actual rip with handbrake, the problem is that my dvd had 3 episodes of my favorite show, and I just want to separate them for a question of logistics. I also already improved a bit the quality of the actual rip, my dvds were old so the quality was a bit weak, this improved significantly the quality of the rip, allowing me to watch it more clearly.
Edit: I forget to tell I bought a Filmora copy a while ago, but I dont think Filmora is useful is this situation, since it sets its own settings.

I'd use Avidemux (http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/) for this purpose, very handy for cutting mp4/mkv files.

You have a re-encoded version of a ripped DVD. A different thing entirely. You can split MKVs with MKVMergeGUI. It doesn't have a preview, so you'll nbeed to work out where to split using a media player.

Or try AviDemux as Groucho2004 suggsted. Or Video To Video Converter (http://www.videohelp.com/software/Video-to-Video-Converter) has a splitter under the Tools menu (the installer may come bundled with crapware so use the download link for the portable version).
Without re-encoding or using a "smart rendering" program, you can only split on keyframes, so you mightn't be able to split exactly where you want to (by default, when using the x264 encoder, keyframes can be up to ten seconds apart).

MKVMerge GUI --> Global --> split mode: "split before chapters" --> Chapter numbers: "All"

Now that is just plain handy. I learn something every day. Thanks.
