Resoloutions For Tv-Out, Encoding w/GKnot

I have a odd problem, and I've searched the forum and I don't seem to see anyone else who has it.

I have a GF3 w/tv-out and am using Tv_Tool. Now, using either tv-tool or the nvidia drivers for tv-out, the picture looks great. I tried a dvd, switched to fullscreen, and the picture was still great.

Now, to divx. I encode a few movies with GKnot and use 640 x 272 as my res., and it looks perfect on my monitor, and looks perfect on my monitor in full screen.

But, when I switch to tv-out, the picture is positioned at the bottom of my screen and appears to be significantly cut at the sides. I switch resoloutions with tv-tool, as well as switching the AR in both zoomplayer and powerdivx, with no luck. (EDIT - After taking a closer look at what its actually doing it seems to zoom in on the upper left corner of the movie.)

Just to check, I play a DVD again with PowerDVD XP, and it plays fine. Right in the middle of the screen and not cut at all.

So, I'm thinking this has to be an issue with the resoloution I'm encoding at right?

Anyone have any thoughts on this problem? I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks. :confused:

Well, I tried something different and it worked well. I used PowerDVD XP to play my divx and when I went to fullscreen mode (on powerdvd) the picture consumed the whole screen but was placed perfectly on my tv (which I promptly set to widescreen mode).

This is odd huh?

This lacks many features I like though, so I still need a solution for zp or powerdivx. :(

we had the same problem

power dvd plays the dvd without cutting the sides

wmp cutting 10-12% of the sides

the solution:
DivX G400 (http://www.tac.ee/~prr/divxg400/divxg400.html)

this tool was made to make divx movies which are not multiple of 32, to add black borders to make them multiple of 32 (for the matrox cards).

also, this tool adds black borders in percent to the movie, so the movie gets wider and you don't have cutted sides ;)

install the tool and try out how much percentage the filter should add, it works as direct show filter in wmp.

this tool is great, it also supports subtitles and other things :D

Well, I really appreciate your help but, for one I don't have a Matrox card. I have a geforce 3 ti200. Now, I'm not saying that I'm not suffering in part to the situation you described, but why is it zooming in on the upper left hand corner? It's the strangest damn thing.

Second, my res. is 640 x 272 which is perfectly divisible by 32.

I'm at a loss here.:confused:

Well, here's what I did:

1)Open BSPlayer
2)Start Up Divx
3)Press +
4)Press -
5)Control-F6 (for tv-tool)
6)Control-F1 (")

Presto. I play it in 640 x 480 (with tvtool) fullscreen (also tvtool, NOT THROUGH THE PLAYER) and use widescreen setting on my flatscreen tv. Picture looks wonderful.

I'm essentially using the custom pan and scan option in bsplayer, then resizing with tvtool, then sending it to the tv.

All I know is that it works. :) It be nice to use another player (zoom), but I guess I can stick with this one.
