I dont know what to do about this -- I set the settings pretty high -- but i have a superpowered PC in terms of media -- its no SLI or crossfire desktop,
but its got 12gb DDR3 system ram, i7 processor, mega overclocked GTX660m running at 1.075 GHZ core clock, 2.6 GHz memory clock -- and that is ALL stable, done with modified bios/vbios.
I game on this machine frequently, and while it doesnt have the video ram required to max out textures and shaders in the most up-to-date games, it still can run the most demanding applications at at least moderately high settings -- usually only running into issues if I need more than 2 gigs dedicated VRAM or more shader cores (even with madvr, I extremely doubt I need more shader cores than a 3d video game) or overall just 2 graphics cards to support those settings.
so I KNOW I have more than enough power to be watching 1080p videos with decent amounts of filtering on. I'm not going crazy running the toughest filters either -- the ones that cause my card a little lag cause the same issue in windowed mode. the weakest links for me are no AVR receiver = all software decoding + analog 5.1 sound card and my monitor -- which is a shitty cheapo Vizio 1080p TV limited RGB, terrible gamma response (Can be corrected at great loss of color range) w/ poor contrast (this is getting upgraded first, then AVR)
I can ramp up the settings quite a bit, and in windowed mode it works beautifully no matter HOW I set it up -- no stutters, no loss of vsync no lag.
but the minute I set it to exclusive fullscreen it all goes to hell -- again, it doesnt seem to matter how the settings are set, it ALWAYS lags out, loses vsync, and causes me a bunch of errors/lag.
So Far I ended up just going borderless window mode and that seems to give me great quality with no lag -- again, I can't set like 2 renderers to be the most processor intensive without lag -- but thats not the issue -- the issue is that exclusive mode just plain doesnt work for me at all. with any settings.
there must be something Im doing or setting wrong -- im not used to so many options in a renderer, and i mainly aim for quality image reproduction while using DXVA or CUDA where available to offload work from the processor and accelerate it for the least lag -- so with moderate-high settings I doubt I should be having any troubles on this machine.
can anyone help a newb?
