Looks like we have next superior resampling method for images named - waifu2x (https://github.com/nagadomi/waifu2x) (Single-Image Super-Resolution for anime/fan-art using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks),
which was inspired by SRCNN (http://mmlab.ie.cuhk.edu.hk/projects/SRCNN.html) (Super-Resolution Convolutional Neural Network).
