never. It makes absolutely no sense to encode a movie at a framerate lower than the original.. I bet the large majority of the people here could clearly see the difference. even quicktime trailers use the full framerate despite being destined for online viewing.

ok, thanks, but....
most quicktime are at 15 fps, sometime less
anime too are at 15 fps or less
sometime u get source that is already at 15,or less, fps. some mpg1 too, albeit nominally at 30 or 25 fps, has only one "real" frame every two....
lower frame rate is ONE aspect of compressing, good,e.g.,for streaming
then is a question of choice

You seem to forget however that Gordian Knot was never intended for streaming video in the first place. As far as movies are concerned, doom is right, it makes no sense to reduce the framerate.
Even if you did want to do this, you would do it after GK, in Vdub or the Avisynth script.

but then all calculations will be wrong,
and, either, source is already at low fps,or,if it is not, decimation is the first thing to do.
if you like or not, you have to admit that 10,12,12.5 and 15, are also in video editing standard.

Sometimes, you may also want to use GKnot for something other than movies, which don't require as many frames per second as movies...

For the sake of flexibility, I actually agree that GK should be able to use different fps.
I hope this doesn't lead to a new stream of decimated rips though
