while I was searching news about xvp8, I noticed that the github repository isn't available anymore. Also is github account is closed/deleted.

Is he retired?

Doing some searching there's a discussion about what happened to him on another forum. Let's just say that it would be better to respect his privacy at this time on this particular forum. Sounds like he's making a pretty major life change.

That's really a shame. I haven't been able to find anything anywhere else myself but I hope he chooses to get back involved again. I think his participation in x265 would be invaluable.
