What you think who win between these two ? Picture quality of course :).

Well, I'm leaning towards a PC, since it can be more powerful than a standalone.

Between my Sony BDP s3100 and my friends' LG BDP (something model), his looks better than mine for most content.
Although, he also does have a newer LG Smart 3D LCD TV compared to my old 1080i Samsung TV from '07.
I'm limited financially from getting a newer TV.

But, I bet if he had my desktop, he could do a lot better than the standalone.

You have way too many options when it comes to PC vs. standalone.

For the adventerous, you can even use Avisynth for playback (FFDshow) and interpolate frames (not for everyone).
Or other AVS things.

With PC, you've also got choices on dithering and other filtering.
Standalone, it's all closed-source with generic information/details.

Playing a blu-ray you're not likely to see a whole lot of difference, but madVR has the potential to be better.

I think there would be no big difference under 1:1 pixel matching circumstances.
