GKnot DivX3- No Sound (Mp3)

Apoligies for what seems to be a standard question, but I don't get any sound in my DivX3 GKnot files. The picture quality is great, but after three attempts, I still get no sound. I'm a total newbie and have been glued to the Guide, and I've read the forum, but nothing is working. I hate to think I need to be "baby-stepped" through this any more than the guide already does, but I'm getting frustrated.

Now that I have a 600meg movie file and 300 meg ac3 file, is there any way to get them together into one 705 meg file?

I see the problem!

Your Azid parameters are incorrect. (Your Lame parameters are also incorrect, but you don't get that far.) Your Azid parameters: -z1 -b1 -c normal -3db Doom9's recommendation: -z1 -b1 -c normal -L -3dbYou've also mis-spelled --alt-preset for your Lame parameter. I've done it too.

Forgot to mention:

You don't have to re-run your entire GKnot job. You can just re-encode audio only, then interleave the mp3 into the avi with Nandub manually. Doom9 has a guide for that.

Use the Encoder tab and "Add Job" ... then select Audio 1 tab.

Sigh... User error. I knew it was probably something simple that I missed, but by the third time through my mind wasn't able to troubleshoot anything properly. Thanks for the help jggimi!!! I'll post on Sunday and let you know how it turns out.

Thanks again for the help. I now have video AND audio. Not bad for my first (successful) time. I'm now on to DivX 4!

You'd do well to stay with DivX 3. The output on DivX 4 comes out a tad blurrier than with 3, something they might fix by 4.5, or they might not. Then again, it's trial and error when you're just getting started, so try DivX 4 if you'd like.

LOL!! I should have stayed on line a little longer. I just looked at Men In Black, which I did in DivX 4 last night, and I noticed it was a little blurry! It's not BAD by any means, but there's a definite difference in sharpness compared to the Evolution movie that I did in DivX3.

I used Soft Bicubic both times (for no particular reason), so do you think using Neutral Bicubic would make up for the difference? What settings do you guys use (and why)?

you can search for "bicubic" and see lots of comments... but I'll net out the general consensus. Since this is a vague generality, you should take it as such.

DivX4 encoders who post here seem to generally recommend Sharp for 2CD or greater encodings, and Neutral for 1CD. Reason? Sharp looks better to many people, but compresses less well as Neutral. You can test compressability with different filters (compressabily check) prior to encoding.
