Hi everyone, I decided to create a specific thread for a software i'm developping : HamMultiPlayer ( http://hammultiplayer.org ).
This software answers to my need to manage and preview in realtime movies on my hard drives...
This is freeware, feel free to test it and tell me what you like or not (it will permit me to progress ;)). Thanks.

looks like it is single threaded.
if I right click in the name list I get:
Line 5915
(file "...hammultiplayer.exe"
error array variable has incorrect number of subscripts or subscript dimension range is exceeded.
and most important what does hammultiplayer.exe want from 91.216.107.211:80 ?

Hi huhn,
Thanks for reporting.
- Right click in ListView without having name selected reports an error... (Will be corrected in next version). Thanks, i did'nt see that simple bug.
- When starting, HamMultiPlayer looks for a file called "HMP_Version.ini" and try to download it to check updates for : Itself, mplayer and mediaInfo.
Multimonitor support has few bugs too, i spent few days to rewrite monitors features and will update to version 0.108 in few days.
Thanks again for your report ;)

Hi Everyone,
@Edison : HamMultiPlayer does not actually support mirror screens, but it will...
@BetA13 : Using "only" Thumbnails display is not actually possible with one monitor version (Controls cannot be hidden)... But i will try to make a thumbdisplay function to preview and save full thumbnails page (I already had this idea)... In futur versions...
Version 0.109 will be published in few weeks (time for me to finish few corrections and adding new controls like walldisplay and other multiscreen previews).

Hi, does HamMultiPlayer support this ?
http://oss.netfarm.it/dsnative/
If so, how does one use it? I have some directshow filters i'd like to use, but currently cannot find any players that match my requirements.
Interframe support? Is this smooth motion video? Like how svp works?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi Everybody,
@Milardo :
For dsnative, i'll have a look.
For InterFrame support : Yes, HamMultiPlayer uses AviSynth and InterFrame to Slow down motions. InterFrame uses SVPFlow1 and SVPFlow2 from Smooth Video Projet !
(to use it, AviSynth and InterFrame must be installed on your system).
I am still working on documentation : http://hammultiplayer.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=69&sid=8d492e96e392e070fb8bcc198186c8f9

@barnuble
Firstly I want to give my most sincere thanks to you!!! I was looking for a multiplayer in same window in the past.. but seems that noone found it useful.
Really I havent been so excited with a software since early msdos days, because I see that HamMultiplayer is a really new useful tool and with lot of potential. It is like the thumbnail browser in imageviewers.. something essential nowadays!!!
After using it for several hours I have some questions:
1) I find HamMultiplayer useful to sort videos. Load a video folder and then drag and move/copy/delete files to other folders using the built in browser.
Is this feature available? if answer is yes.. How can I do that? Do I need to know some shortcut, mouse+key combo to do that?
2) Oh man .. I cannot make interframe to work. A black window appear!!!!
In the Speed Box I can read:
Avisynth 2.5 v2.5.8.5 installed
InterFrame(SVP) v3.2.0 installed
Both lines are green.
Plz let me know what video output are you using, If I require a special avisynth.dll version, if I need to place dll in different folder to work with HamMultiplayer, what SVP dll versions are you using, Oh man I really want to use frame interpolation into your program!!! I tested in XP and win7 machines, installed updated VC2008 runtimes... I tested with avisynth and svp dlls from SVP homepage.. but I was not lucky yet!!!! Always a black screen and not playing activity in the playtime box. Plz tell me what settings are you using to enable interframe in HamMultiplayer.. Im a kind of interpolation freak and I cannt watch any video without it now.
3) As future request I would add key shortcuts to the program so you could navigate into browser, switch windows modes, do everything that you do with the mouse using the keyboard.
The program is really powerful!! and you know it!!
4) Overlay mixer video is the fastest when using frame interpolation with low resources hardware. Any chance to implement it?
Anyway I have more ideas but I need to hunt some bugs that I have found and get a way to reproduce so you could fix them. Mainly missing icons after closing and opening the program again.
Since HamMultiplayer forum is closed Ill post my found bugs and questions here.
Best regards and thanks for this great tool!!!! :)

Hello Everybody...
@travolter
Thanks for your support ! About your questions :
1)You cannot move files using listview or treeview (Treeview is only made to select directories) and listview only displays files found. May be one day i will add these options.
2) About InterFrame, HamMultiPlayer uses DirectShowSource, so it needs few softwares to be installed, follow these steps :
- Install AviSynth 2.6 : http://sourceforge.net/projects/avisynth2/
- Once AviSynth is installed, download a newer and multi-threaded version of AviSynth.dll and put it in Windows\SysWow64 or Windows\System32 (if first directory does not exists) : http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=148782
- Download InterFrame and copy all files in : AviSynth\PlugIns : http://www.spirton.com/interframe/
- Install FFdshow (When FFdShow asks for components to install, select all) : http://www.videohelp.com/software/ffdshow
- Install a Splitter : http://www.videohelp.com/software/Haali-Media-Splitter or https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases
After installing AviSynth, InterFrame, FFDshow and Lavfilters, restart your computer and HamMultiPlayer should be abble to use InterFrame(s).
Some more help : http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/322964-a-problem-opening-MKV-or-MP4-files?p=2000089&viewfull=1#post2000089
3) Key shortcuts will be added in futur versions...
4) Overlay Mixer seems to work in Windows 10 using any number of previews (Windows XP had display bugs and Windows 7 only produces blue screen of death).
So, I think this option will be back in next version ! (I still have tests to do).
Few more words :
InterFrame needs time to start playing (you can sometime have to wait many seconds before image appears) -> Testing InterFrame should be done (at begining) with small movies : 320x240 or 640x480... Once it works, you may try to play HD contents with GPU option...
Many updates will come to make it simpler...
Have a nice day and thanks again for supporting me ;)

new problem using interframe:
-videos using only 1core... so interframe goes sloooow in HD vids
Is there any way to enable multicore decoding?
Im an oldie mplayer user.. so I found the mplayer/config file used by HamMultiplyer and I added the following line to enable multicore:
lavdopts=threads=4
but it does not work under HamMultiplayer! Maybe I need another command line into the config file of mplayer to enable multicore .avs playback
barnuble
19th August 2015, 07:24
@travolter
Hello, I dont think problem comes from mplayer, it comes from AviSynth :
- mplayer uses option lavdopts and sets multiple threads by default (it does not use config file, so changing values will bring nothing)...
- InterFrame is defined by HamMultiPlayer to use several threads according to your system (core=cores) : http://www.spirton.com/uploads/InterFrame/InterFrame2.html
- AviSynth originaly works on one thread, version MT tries to use several threads (but MultiThreading is not really efficient)...
I will have a closer look, and will add option to let user define threads (for mlayer, avisynth and InterFrame) in futur versions (not sure it will really change things).
Do not forget to try InterFrame "GPU" option (better and faster) and to use "Faster" as quality result seems correct.
Have a nice day...

Plz confirm that the mplayer used by HMP is multithread by default!!!
I was testing all my mplayers collection... around 6.. and all of them but 1 were compiled for singlecore by default... so I need to add lavdopts and sets multicores manually to views 4K videos as example.

Hi barnuble,
Did you have time to check if support that dsnative?
If not, any other way to use directshow filters with HamMultiPlayer?
barnuble
20th August 2015, 13:10
Hi everybody,
@milardo :
There are several (Windows) mplayer distributions :
- Redxii : http://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayerwin/
- Sherpya : http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.php
- SubJunk : http://www.spirton.com/mplayer-mencoder-subjunk-build/
HamMultiPlayer uses the first one (redxii) since a long time (more frequent updates) and unfortunatly "dsnative" seems to work only with the second one (sherpya version).
I made few tests yesterday and dsnative works with sherpya distribution in OpenGL mode only (using ffdshow).
Then, I have two solutions :
1°) Replacing redxii by sherpya version and adding "dsnative.dll" inside HamMultiPlayer.exe
2°) Continue to use redxii version by default (embeded version) and add possibility for user to use sherpya version and "dsnative.dll" to get DirectShow support.
I have to do tests before making a decision but next version : 0.112 will offer DiretShow possibilities.
@travolter :
Yes, I confirm that HamMultiPlayer uses MultiThreaded mplayer version.
By default, HamMultiPlayer uses 2 CPU cores by movie. You can load from 4 movies to 55 (and more). When playing, HamMultiPlayer will never use less than 8 cores (2x4) and up to 2x55 threads (depending on screen resolution).
I am working on options to let user define number of cores for : mplayer, AviSynth and InterFrame, but my first tests have shown no differences.
What you can do to go faster (waiting for v0.112) :
- Try "core2" or "core i7" mplayer versions from sherpya : http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.php (download and copy "mplayer.exe" in the same directory as HamMultiPlayer and it will use it instead of generic embeded version when starting !)
- Download "svpflow1.dll" and "svpflow2.dll" (v1.1.16) from Smooth Video Project : http://www.svp-team.com/wiki/Plugins:_SVPflow and replace versions included in InterFrame (1.1.15) with these one. (It must be copied to : Program Files (x86)\AviSynth\plugins\Dependencies).
Version 0.112 should be published in few weeks...
Have fun !

Hi everybody,
@Milardo : You're welcome ;)
@travolter :
This morning, my video card did not accept to open 3 screens as usual... I made tests and saw that only 1GB memory (over 2GB) was 'seen' by system (strange lines appeared few days ago : Memory problem)...
After many tests, I ran to buy another one : 960TX with 4GB) and made InterFrame tests before and after replacing, here's what I found :
Playing 6 movies simultaneously in qHD (960x540) @100% speed with InterFrame GPU enabled took :
(my computer : Core i7 2600K @4.5Ghz)
NVidia 660 2GB => 48.61% of CPU load (starting playing was slow and not really fluid).
NVidia 960 4GB => 20.47% of CPU load (playing was really fluid).
NVidia 960 4GB (InterFrame GPU disabled) => 56% of CPU load (playing was like before).
I bought that card 220€ (I dont play any game).
So, settings are important, video card too !!! If you really cannot live without InterFrame, consider replacing your card ;)
Have a good day !
PS : I still work on v0.112 and hope to publish it in less than two weeks (I have tests and additions to do). Many bugs fixed.

Hey!! Its really nice to know!!! Ill check another card for the future. Probably all is related to the video render used by Mplayer. If you are using direct3D or GL videorenders the new gpu will save CPU cycles than the old one. Since I dont have powerful 3D card I only have to rely on CPU and overlay mixer.
I have a question about HamMultiPlayer/interframe and MPlayer. Could be possible integrate everything into the same program?. I mean integrate all dependencies that are required (avisynth, ffdshow, interframe, SVP dlls) into a single HamMultiPlayer.exe or mplayer.exe file that runs portable without the need to install any extra software into your system. Or just a requirement of an extra directory to put the external dlls to run along HamMultiPlayer or an special mplayer version with framedoubling already integrated.
Btw Im anxious to check the next HamMultiPlayer release and the new goodies ;)
Regards!
barnuble
1st September 2015, 22:50
Hi Travolter ;)
Making AviSynth portable is a nightmare ! It needs to copy file in "System dir" and many configurations... So I think it's not for tomorrow ;( ffdshow is nearly the same thing : codecs registration, registry modification... !
I do not want to apply any changes to the system, everything should run without administrative rights and without installation.
HamMultiPlayer has been made to be portable (it only uses temp dir) and (if installed) uses extra softwares you already have.
I have made new things in v0.112 :
- dsnative will be included.
- processes management improved.
- new settings (CoreAVC decoding).
- Audio features rewritten.
- News features and new preferences.
Early tests are encouraging, but making dozens of processes working simultaneously is a real job ;)
I hope to be able to upload it in one week...
Have a good day !

Hi Barnuble,
Thanks for this new version. How do I add a specific directshow filter for either audio or video?
barnuble
16th September 2015, 19:01
Hi Milardo,
HamMultiPlayer does not directly manage filters, it only uses softwares like FFdshow to load movies...
Filters have to be selected in FFdshow (see "misc" in preview options to select source). You have two ways :
1°) Using External decoder and selecting DirectShow as decoder (FFdShow needed).
2°) Using AviSynth source and selecting DirectShowSource as source (Avisynth and FFdShow needed).
Once done, FFdShow will be opened, you can then select filters you want to use...
Activate HamMultiPlayerCPU (in preferences) to watch CPU used and then select best option.
...
barnuble
16th September 2015, 19:04
0.112 News :
- HamMultiplayer now uses all cores for each preview (Playing, using InterFrame will be faster)...
- Main interface now displays system memory used (important feature as HamMultiPlayer consumes a lot of memory).
- Preview options now includes "Misc" menu to select External Decoder (Still beta).
- Introducing HamMultiPlayerCPU (see preferences menu) -> a CPU usage monitor (usefull to watch activity)
(Can be positioned over or under interface -> Needs HamMultiPlayer restart).
- Video Track can now be selectable.
- Audio Track can now be selectable.
- Video Output can be selected for each preview.
- Audio Output can be selected for each preview.
- Export : You can now compare (CRC32) two movies (Swap/Load/Compare).
- Misc : External Decoder can be selected (Warning : This is usefull to save CPU processes for one or two previews but is slower if spreaded over all previews).
- Misc : Use Avisynth source -> Another way to use DirectShow.
Note 1 : External decoder cannot be used while Avisynth source is enabled (and reciprocally).
Note 2 : InterFrame cannot be used with External Decoder and Avisynth source (and will be automaticaly disabled).
Preferences :
It is now possible to select External Video Decoder defaults (beta) for H264/AVC codecs (only EVO/FLV/OGM/M2TS/MKV/MOV/MP4/PVA and TS containers are allowed).
This feature should be left on : No
H.264/AVC => No (AVC1/h264/X264/VSSH).
Others => No (Divx and others codecs).
This is Beta version and Trying to use it may crash system or display BSOD !
Note 3 : External Video Decoder must use "OpenGL Hardware" video output to work (this is automaticaly done by HamMultiPlayer).
- Reset Settings on "page change" lets you keep or not settings when loading new files.
- Speed Steps lets you select how many steps you want when changing speed.
- InterFrame Defaults : Leave it on "No change" to use HamMultiPlayer in normal mode.
New Stop button to close every preview processes and reset settings.
HamMultiPlayer documentation will be updated as soon as possible...
Have Fun ;)

Hi Barnuble,
Thanks for the reply. I actually meant loading different filters than the ones in ffdshow like, lav filters, or dmitrirender. Or any filters independent of ffdshow.

Sure , no problem.
But how does one load the specific filter from HamMultiPlayer?
barnuble
16th September 2015, 19:55
... Example on my system (using FFdShow) :
1 - Load movies.
2 - Right click over any preview.
3 - Select "Misc" tab from menu.
4 - Select "DirectShow" in "Use External Decoder".
...Press Play => Image appears !
Now, "FFdShow" decodes your movie (you can then double click FFDShow icon to change filters, options, etc...).
Is that the question you were asking for ? (Not sure I really understood).
Limitations : FFDshow settings are applied to all previews using FFDshow External decoding (no individual settings) ;(
Note : HamMultiPlayer auto-select "OpenGL Hardware" to display movie with DirectShow (others video output did not work => Black screen).
(Tested on 4 different computers : XP, Vista, 7 and 10) => It works !
Hope it does for you too...
Barnuble.
Milardo
16th September 2015, 20:17
For example, dmitrirender loads by itself independently of ffdshow. It is a separate filter from ffdshow, like ffdshow.ax and dmitrirender.dll

Hi Milardo,
Sorry, no time last days to go further on DirectShow support.
...And I think I won't spend more time about it (this is not the original goal of this software) ;(
HamMultiPlayer is intended to preview video and audio files, it is not a "single player" like others (playing several files using filters bring many problems that I have no time to fix for the moment)...
I really need to use my time writing documentation for new features and fixing bugs...

- OSD settings.

and more...

Hi HamMultiPlayer's Users ;)
A new (small) release is available : 0.115.37875.791
Here's the change log :
0.115.37875.791 (2016-12-03) :
This is a very small update fixing an oversight : mplayer 37853 => 37875.
- Updated mplayer (37853 was compiled in place of 37875).
- Updated MediaInfo to 0.7.91 (https://mediaarea.net/fr/MediaInfo).
- Startup Speedup : MediaInfo is decompressed only when not already present.
- HamMultiPlayer filename has not any more effect on Full/Fast Mode.
- Trying to call "Previews options" in FastMode crashed HamMultiPlayer : Fixed.
- Hiding main interface did not hide others : Fixed.
Important Note :
- FastMode is now only accessible via preferences or icon of the taskbar.
- FullMode (when being in FastMode) is now only accessible via icon of the taskbar.
It is mainly due to a forgetfulness : mplayer v37853 was compiled instead of v37875.
Hope you like ;)

@Cruncher
While waiting for me to take your request into account, you should use the AviSynth editor included in version 0.116. It allows you to do everything you can imagine !

Hi barnuble,
Thank you for this. I couldn't find it after searching and finally manage to track this software down. It great in term of "multi video support" which I have yet to see any other video player support or add. But I'll probably be using this more in the future.
During my searches I came across quite a few other people who want a player that have feature your player have.
I noticed that you started this in 2015 and latest version is 2017, yet the version is still only v0.1. So I'm not sure what are your future goals are with this player. Do you have a milestone and projection of what you want to achieve with it? Just curiosity and something I can look forward to.
I'm hoping for at the moment is HamMP to be the ability to:
1. disable "Update Check". ie. Internet Connection.
2. Disable Pop-up you open the player.
3. Add support for webm
4. Drag and drop in playlist or player.
5. WallDisplay - Video Frame Stretching. It okay for widescreen type of video but when you play "portrait" video it get strech to "Touch Window from Inside" ie. it stretch to Width of Monitor/WindowDisplay. Either an option on how to handle that or it should be fix so it doesn't stretch to width but height.
6. WallDisplay - Audio from focus video. If you don't use the setting "Audio from first", then it mute everything.
Thank you.
