don't know anyway to do that except to author the disc.

I don't have a karaoke DVD myself so I really don't know the structure of the DVD but it should be either of these two structures:
1. One *.vob file per song (should have files like VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_02_1.VOB, VTS_03_1.VOB, VTS_04_1.VOB, so on).
2. The other would be 1 set of *.vobs for the entire disc (should have files like VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB, VTS_01_4.VOB, etc.).
Now if it is the structure as #1, it would be easy. All you do is load the specific *.vob files into VOBRator preview each *.vob and find out which *.vob is the song you want. Then rip the *.vob for the songs you want with Smart Ripper. Demux the *.vob files into seperate *.mpv and *.ac3 files and load them into DVDMaestro.
If the structure is as #2, it's a pain in the ass. You would need to to merge the *.vob set into 1 huge *.vob file. Then use an *.vob demuxer and split the *.vob set into the elementary *.mpv and *.ac3 stream. After you split those apart, you will need to edit the video and audio stream in a MPEG2 Editing program such as M2 Edit Pro. Since M2 Edit Pro does not accpet *.ac3 audio files, you'll first need to decompress the *.ac3 to *.wav and then import it into M2 Edit Pro along with your *.mpv file. Load both files into the timeline, and cut out the portions you do not need. Save the files seperately as *.wav & *.mpv. Load the *.wav file into an AC3 encoding software like Sonic Foundry Soft Encode and make a new *.ac3 file. Now you should have an edited *.mpv and *.ac3 file which only contains the songs that you want.
Do the same thing for the other karaoke DVDs you want to rip.
After you have a bunch of karaoke video/audio files that should equal to a file size of 4.35G or less, load them all up into DVDMaestro and create your new karaoke DVD with your favorite songs. Don't forget to preview thru the timeline in DVDMaestro and set chapter points so you can jump to any song you want at any time.

#2...use smartripper to and rip each chapter into it's own vob.
assuming each song is in its own chapter.

Oh wow, didn't know you can do that with SmartRipper.

go to the options tab when in Movie mode.
middle column sets the vob split.
cool, huh?!

Hi,
or use Vstrip with a .lst input file (lists the VTS_xx_01.vob - VTS_xx_0x.vob).
Demux Audio (AC3) and Video (M2V) with VStrip, import both streams to Maestro, put video (only) on the timeline, cut video on the timeline, have Maestro create a new synched audio track (stays AC3 !).
That's the ultimative trick with MPEG-2 video + DD (AC3) audio cutting. Nothing better than that !

i've been experimenting with the karoake shit and finally found a way to do this without authoring.
and by the way, the structure of a karoake dvd is like this, vts_01_01 - vts_01_xx.
this is how i got all the good songs in one dvd.
1) take first dvd and rip one big file with all the songs u want in that dvd with smartripper. save the file as vts_01_01.vob
2)then put second karoake dvd in and do the same thing. pick all the songs u want from that dvd.
rip and save as vts_01_02.vob
3)repeat for how many dvd's u want to put in.
4)now u will have vob files ripped to ur harddrive.
one vob is for each dvd. u don't need any ifo files.
5) goto ifoedit and click on the create ifo button.
choose vts_01_01.vob and save that will be created in the same folder.
6)now open the ifo made by ifoedit and choose vob extras. click stip audio and the other opptions so ifoedit will resize the vob files. save in a different folder.
7)now just burn to a dvd and u will have a dvd with all your good songs.

I have a very similar problem, and I want to be sure I don't need the original .IFOs at all, can you help?
Say I have 2 dvds whith 2 movies in each, contents as folow:
DVD1: MovieA1 (vts01_*.vob) + MovieB1 (vts02_*.vob)
DVD2: MovieA2 (vts01_*.vob) + MovieB2 (vts02_*.vob)
Say I want to create DVD3 as follows:
DVD3: MovieB1 + MovieB2
How can I just copy (rip?) both Bx movies to hard drive and reauthor a new DVD with them??
AFAIK Maestro does not accept .VOB files directly.
THanks!

rip movieB1 with smartripper into one big vob file.
call it vts_01_01.vob. then rip movieB2 into one big vob and call it vts_01_02.vob. u don't need any of their ifo files.
then goto ifoedit and click create ifo. now use the created ifo to resize the vob files with ifoedit. then burn. that should do it.
the only thing is, u will not have a menu.

How do you resize using IFOEdit??
Any workaround to the menu issue?
Even if I need to install a third authoring program??
Today it's just 2 movies but tomorrow might be 10 per DVD!
Thanks!!

click on vob extras and strip some audio streams. if u want them then just check them all. by doing this ifoedit will resize the vob files to 1024 mb. i don't know a way to have a menu except to reauthor.
