I've been a user of AVISynth for a very long time.. I've recently come back to AVISynth and MeGUI after recently messing around with handbrake and finding its deinterlacing and decimation abilities lacking.

One thing that I always find when using AVISynth and decomb has been that I never, ever seem to be able to get the decomb and decimate filter to work properly. Whenever I've used it, it works very well for 99% of frames, but there is almost always some remaining interlaced frame that slips through the filter whenever I use any of the decomb filters (fdecomb, decomb). Unfortunately, I can almost always see these frames in the rendered video. Is there a trick to using these filters that I've never figured out? Are there any tutorials that help to identify which threshold settings to use and when to use them?

I've started to fiddle with some HD backups, but I've always had this problem with both SD and HD. I'm looking for something that can guide me through just which settings I should use, not something generic like the doom9 guide on decomb, which never really gave me much info.

I use TFM/TDecimate, and the documentation has always worked well for me.
