Hi
I'm having some problems removing combing/interlacing when encoding the R1 Futurama DVDs. I'm new to Avisynth, so it would be nice if you could explain carefully. I have both MeGUI and StaxRip, but I prefer StaxRip because of the simplicity.
Can you please explain how I can remove all combing/interlacing from the Futurama videos? Explain how I'd do it in either StaxRip or MeGUI. I tried regular IVTC in StaxRip, but there are still combing in some scenes.
Here are some samples:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/u1uprlh33tkt6i7/3.demuxed.m2v
The clips are from Volume 3 Episode 1, and I made them with DGIndex using Honor Pulldown Flags as Field Operation.
I know there have been some threads regarding this, but I can't really understand everything I read here because I'm still new to this. :)
Thanks!

I have both MeGUI and StaxRip, but I prefer StaxRip because of the simplicity.I used the TIVTC plugin in an Avisynth script, which worked flawlessly on your 3 samples for 23.976fps output.
TFM(order=1).TDecimate()
tivtc results, all_3_samples.mp4 (https://www.mediafire.com/?t2oodjonq7deukw) (13.1MB)
Curious as to why you want to go through a lot of learning and work just to take a quality hit from re-encoding a DVD that looks perfectly OK to me. Is PC-only playback your goal for the results? Or is your TV set up for 23.976 progressive playback? BTW, if StaxRip simplicity is what you're after, you might not take too well to Avisynth. Up to You. TIVTC will probably work as Avisynth input to MeGui, I don't know about StaxRip. Both apps are too limiting for me, so I haven't used them in years.

Thank you, that worked great!
PC playback is what I'm going for. I live in Norway, and I don't have a region free DVD/Blu-ray player to play the R1 DVDs. The combing when playing the DVD on PC just bothers me so much. :p I think I can handle more complex things than StaxRip, but I figured it was no use learning it because I'm only using these apps for encoding DVDs.

I'm stilling getting some artifacts. The picture is a screenshot from my encoded episode using TIVTC. I think I saw artifacts like this other areas in the episode as well.
Here is an untouched sample from the VOB: http://www.mediafire.com/download/0bn63bdym8wydbx/VTS_04_1.demuxed.m2v

I'm no expert, but I think the DVD is a bit dodgy. I don't understand it, but the chroma from some fields seems to blend into the next/previous field, and that's maybe what looks like combing after IVTC.
I don't use StaxRip but if you open the sample from your previous post in MeGUI's script creator and add SeparateFields() to the script manually, then navigate to frame number 205 and 206 in MeGUI's preview, you'll see this:

After normal ITVC has been applied (SeparateFields removed from the script) frame number 82 looks like this:

If there's a way to fix that it'd take someone more clever than me. Does it happen all the way through? I ask because while I have no idea how the credits are added to the telecined video, I suspect maybe they have something to do with it. The credits make the underlying video look a bit odd a times.
(if the images I linked to in this post disappear, sorry, I had trouble with getting them to display a few days ago. I'm not sure why)

Not quite flawless. ;)

For the problem with chroma artifacts, see here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1615597#post1615597).
Later the solution is achieved.

The artifacts I'm having problems with are present in the scene with Nibbler, and I think I saw them in two or three more scenes (I may be wrong). They only last for a few seconds though. The ending credits are fine, but the credits at the start of the episode (after the theme song) makes the picture "shake" when they pop up and when they disappear again. I hope I understood you right. Thanks anyway though :)

I found the code that Sp00kyFox came up with (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1582950#post1582950). I'm struggling to understand this though. How would I do this in MeGUI? I'm sorry if I'm too demanding, but I'm really not that good with Avisynth. Thanks :)
