Maybe this should be posted in the Audio Encoding forum but I thought I would try here first.

Most times I use DVD2SVCD to simply back up DVDs. But I would like to know if I could use the already created AC3 files PLUS the DVD chapters.ini file to back up a concert DVD to MP3 or WAV files (using BeSweet GUI and BeSweet) where each song/chapter is a separate WAV or MP3 file (for eventual burn to Audio CD player or play on MP3 player).

I know I could use SmartRipper/stream processing/demux to extra file on each chapter to make smaller AC3 files and feed those through BeSweet. But that seems tedious when the AC3 soundtrack and the chapter info is already there.

thanks everyone

Hey, I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but, perhaps that could be implemented in future DVD2SVCD builds: DVD2AudioCD/WAV/MP3 (with chapters-->tracks):o

Are you kidding.

I can' find any reference to BeSure, but sounds incredible. Just thinking about having DTS copies of all my concerts DVD in CDR just for listening is marvelous.

Nope. I'm not kidding. This software is the result of the colaboration between DVD2SVCD and DSPguru. You can find it at doom9's download homepage.;)

BeSure sure be looking promising. :) It looks like it does the conversion effortlessly (AC3 --> CDDA).

But, what about the problem of chapters--->individual CD/MP3 tracks. Or, does each chapter have to be ripped and demuxed to a separate AC3 file and then sent to BeSweet? Can the DVD chapters.ini file be used for this purpose?

Also, any other suggestions for -ota switches?

i myself use BeSure for backuping concert dvds.
since the vStrip support have been removed from BeSweet, i use vStrip_gui with cell splitting (this will create a different file for each song), and then let BeSure do the rest :)

btw,
Doom9 will publish a guide to BeSure soon.

Thank you very much, DSPguru.

I'll give it try with vStrip GUI and cell splitting.

Thanks DSPguru.

I used vStrip Gui and split files by cells (chapters. and ran it through BeSure. No problem. All CDDA tracks were easily created.

Normalize is checked by default. Should that be the case? Also azid autodetects gains for each track. Will that affect the sound volume from track to track? In other words if there is a low volume track followed by a loud one, will there be a noticeable jump in loudness at the transition? Is there a way to have azid autodetect the gain of all the tracks at once and then use that gain setting for all the tracks as they are processed separately?

At this point, probably forum readers are groaning. This thread should possibly be moved to a different forum,Audio Encoding.

Thanks

i usually use normalize for conerts, 'cause i want to have the maximum gain for each track.
since BeSure is calling BeSweet one-by-one, it can't calculate a total gain for all the files.

here's what you could do :
- look for the minimum value of gain found in the log file, unswitch "normalize", and set "-azid( -g value ).
- create a list file & input it to BeSweet, then grab the value it finds for the whole list, substract by 1db, and set in BeSure to "-azid( -g new_value ).

Hi
I want to use BeSure, but I get an error, when i create
cdda-files .
I looked in the BeSure.txt file:
=> mpglib error

I noticed that there is no mpglib.dll in the BeSweet bundle.
Is this correct ?

Thanks for help

Ruben

Ruben:

Place all unpacked files of BeSure into the same folder that has BeSweet 1.11. Later versions of BeSweet that I downloaded (1.2 builds 1 and 3)did not have the dlls included with the download.
