Recently, in an audiophile shop, I asked if I could listen to the audio track of a DVD video that has only a 6 channel track for a given language (Mamoru Oshii, Avalon zone 2, Polish).
The guy told me that anyway, we could always listen to the stereo track...
But I don't see any Polish stereo track in Smartripper ! There are only polish AC3 6 channels, Japanese AC3 2 channels.
And yes, the Polish audio came from the two plugs behind the DVD player, that, according to the guy, has no Dolby Digital decoder at all in it.
Furthermore, I noticed that rips from "les mystérieuses cités d'or" (AK video), mono sound, when "demux to extra file", are MP2 files, and not AC3, as usual ! Actually, they are listed as "MPEG1 2 channels" in Smart Ripper.
So if all DVDs has a 2 channels MP2 track not always displayed in SmartRipper, is it possible to rip it when there is no AC3 2 channels track in order to use it in a DivX, rather than downmix multichannel and reencode ?
Is it in the "other streams" in that case ?
Edit : made it clearer
