I have used the dvd2svcd pogram to create a vcd version of my dvd film. After running the program now for a good 17 hours the files are complete but I am not sure which files i need to then put onto cd. I have the NEro Burning Rom Program, how do I use that to put these files on. In the readme file it says :
4. Wait..... and keep on waiting (probably between 12 - 24 hours)
5. When DVD2SVCD is done, you should have 2 or more BIN/CUE files. I recommend using Fireburner to burn those images to CD's.

What are BIN/Cue files. ??

Bin/Cue-Files do only say that the ectension of the files are .cue or .bin

The CUE-File only gives the burnprog some informations about the CD.
The BIN-File is the imagefile of the CD (1:1 are all bytes in this image which are later on the cd).

I don't know how to burn this images over Nero bus take a look in the Nero-help! Search for "burning cuesheet" or only for "cuesheet".

I take CDRwin, wich is easier to handle and more professional (in my opinion).

Hi,
I am also newbie, but I try to read some posts and especially FAQ before asking questions.
You can find answers at DDogg's "***NEWBIE FAQ. READ BEFORE POSTING***".
Really good and obvious title.

Personally I use Daemon-Tools and Nero – works Ok.

You need just bin/cue files. Put them anywhere you want.
If you decide to use daemon-tools you have to mount image on your virtual cd-rom and then just make disc-to-disc copy with Nero.

Gingerjim,

Here's how you burn bin/cue files with Nero.

1. Launch Nero.
2. Don't use the Wizard (i.e. Close the Wizard)
3. Select "File->Burn Image"
4. Change to All files under File Types and open the .cue file.
5. Select "Disc-At-Once", otherwise Nero will burn the bin image incorrectly.
6. Select write speed and hit "Write".

You can also burn bin/cue files with these 2 burning software:
1. CDRWin
2. Fireburner

If you have these 2 softs, here are the links that will show you how to use to burn bin/cue files:

1. http://www.doom9.org/mpg/cdrwin.htm
2. http://www.doom9.org/mpg/fireburner.htm

NOTE: If you use Fireburner then use the "cue file for Fireburner" and not the regular cue file.

After you successfully burn it, drop it on your DVD player & check the movie out. If everything are fine, you can delete your 9 GB of data, and start another movie?!! :)

Cheers...

"NOTE: If you use Fireburner then use the "cue file for Fireburner" and not the regular cue file."

Bubba,

In my copy of Fireburner it just says "Load Cuesheet" when you hit FILE. Can you explain in greater detail how you get to this "cue file for Fireburner" ?? - and not the regular cue file ??

Fireburner is no longer recomended for burning the SVCD's created by DVD2SVCD. There have been problems with it corrupting some of the info and making the SVCD all, but unusable.

Bob01605,

I used VCDEasy to create chapters from the mpeg file created by DVD2SVCD, and VCDEasy create 2 cue files (1 is for Fireburner). So please ignore what I said earlier about using the "cue file for Fireburner". It was my mistake. ;)

I forgot that VCDxBuild just create only 1 cue file. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Cheers

yeah stay away from fireburner. It worked for a few weeks then it stopped all together. now cdrwin works for me. try burning at 4x also.
