Hi Guys,

I would like to know what is needed to reencode an existing MVC Video (h264).

I would like to use Avisynth for this and reencode to MVC with (at best) x264.

Is this possible with actual existing stuff, there are existing different programs, but most are very buggy.

What progress-chain do I need to reach my goal?

Try BD Rebuilder or BD3D2MK3D or BDtoAVCHD or MVCsource (decoder only) .......

Note that you can't use x264 as MVC encoder because x264 does NOT support MVC; however you can encode SBS or O/U with x264.
The only free MVC enocders are based on Intel SDK AFAIK. All free 3D tools use the Intel SW.

Ok, thanks for that clarification.

I want to reencode a movie, container should be mkv.
I want to use an Hardwareplayer which is capable of 3D and 3D MVC.

What is a possible way to convert without loosing resolution.
I would like to keep the framesize at 1920x1080.

"Framepacking" (better to say: Alternating Frames) is something I offen read, but I didnt found information how to handle this in avisynth in combination with mkv.

Time ago there was a solution with having two mkv-files (left and right), but I want a silngle-file-solution which is also compatible with HDMI 1.3 .

Saving two Streams (Left / Right) into one mkv is not a problem, but what about 3D in that case?

Edit:
With x264 it seems to be parameter "--frame-packing 5"

It's not as easy as you may think. Try the tools which I mentioned in the first line of my reply. They do pretty much what you request.

BD-Rebuilder won't create mvc file in container of mkv, it only create disc structure with mvc. However it can do sbs which will cause 50% loss of detail for 1920*1080 and BD3D2MK3D does it as well.

Bottom line with mkv ouput majority of the time you will lose 50% detail, if you want output to play on players.
