Earlier today somebody directed me to this documentation (http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/dostudio/understanding_3d_authoring_blu-ray_3d). Which suggests that the maximum allowable data rate for 3D Blu-ray disc's using Profile 5 is 72 Mbps (up from 48 Mbps for BD-Live players).

Is this "profile" along with its increased data-rate actually being used now on store-bought 3D blu-ray discs?

Cheers

Does anybody know which 3D Blu-ray disc's use this profile?

All 3D BDs use this profile

All 3D BDs use this profileIndeed, my mistake. What I meant to ask about was with regard to the "maximum data rate of 72 Mbps".

As far as I can determine, no current 3D Blu-ray disc's are encoded a maximum data rate of 72 Mbps

72 Mbps is peak rate and not average rate.
Avatar feature SSIF for example is 48.125.706.240 bytes and 9702 seconds long.
So average rate is 39.683.122 bps. Peak rate may be much higher.
