View Full Version : Blu-Ray 24 FPS Tracks with Interlacing Artifacts

On one Blu-Ray I recently purchased and tried to transcode and transfer to my video server, I noticed the following problem with some of the extra features (but not the main movie):

The extra features are coded as progressive 24 fps and play back relatively fine that way, both in the original MKVs and after trans-coding with x264 and remuxing to MP4.

However, these features also clearly exhibit interlacing artifacts (i.e., in scenes with relatively high movement there is the classic interlacing horizontal jig-saw pattern). They also seem to consume a higher bit-rate than they ought to at the given crf, probably for that reason.

Is that a mastering error or am I doing something wrong? In either case, what are the recommendations?
