DmitriRender is a DirectShow filter. It converts video frame rate in real time and allows you to watch any movies and videos without jerks and turbidity. It calculates on the video card and inserts frames with intermediate position of objects into the video. This can significantly improve the viewing experience. Motion in the frame obtains a smooth, monolithic, fully synchronized with the output device (monitor, projector, or TV) refresh rate.
DmitriRender is compatible with NVidia and AMD video card with hardware DirectX 11 support, including the AMD APU with built-in graphics processor. DmitriRender is compatible with Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1.
Changelog 24.07.2014. DmitriRender 2.0.0.3:
Optimized code, improved quality, reduced the number of artifacts.
Reduced unnecessary CPU load on NVidia video card.
Fixed a bug on the AMD video card, resulting in green or black screen.
Expanded support for different players (Light Alloy, Stereoscopic Player and others).
Added English version.

it look like it does the same as madVR SM but adds artefacts:
http://abload.de/img/dimitrirenderermnujf.png
MadVr and EVR really really think the clock is perfect after some time so there is no way a frame gets dropped or repeated.
i haven't notice any performence issue at all.

Hmmm, well I use K-Lite Mega CP to play movies for FFDshow + SVP to get interpolation.
My playback chain:
MPC-HC: DirectShow Video: MadVR
movie -> LAVvideo -> FFDShow -> SVP
+ ReClock
After installing this:
MPC-HC: DirectShow Video: Sync Render
movie -> LAVvideo -> DmitriRender
+ ReClock
It also outputs video to NV12 as default.
Reclock shows: 60.020 fps, 1920x1080p, NV12 12 bits
While I see the CPU usage has dropped (avg. 4-9%) significantly for interpolating (compared to SVP, avg. 50-65%), and it does play rather smoothly for 1080p sourced AVC/BD remux,
it did start to judder a lot and chocke up when I ran NVidia system monitor to see some of the GPU stats.
After about 3.5 minutes, it also didn't like it when I went fullscreen with it either.
When I exted fullscreen, it just crashed MPC-HC.
After changing default DSV back to MadVR, it works better.
Still some motion judder on some panning shots.
With MadVR back on, CPU usage goes up avg. %30
Overall, it's not to showcase. You can get past all the ringing around the people when they walk around (typical of interpolating, but at full 1080p, it's much more obvious; SVP can downscale 720p).
For about 5 minutes, the only frame drops I get are when i switch to fullscreen or skip forward to a different scene.
I would say it could use some options to tweak for different settings, but I can just SVP for that.
Maybe a few different profiles would be nice.
Documentation is very brief.
Default installation says it will takeover and use Sync Renderer (didn't know until I played a video or read the documentation).
It also installs to %appdata% rather than something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\".
It's not bad.
The only thing I'm not liking?
It's trial-ware with option to purchase after trial.
Website shows that "buy" is "coming soon..."
I wouldn't feel comfortable paying for this.
There isn't even any licensing information on this, anywhere.
If you have to pay, don't you get to know the licence type? He has his own "licence" when you go to install, but nothing too relevant.
I'll stick with SVP, tyvm.
Thanks for demo.

sorry, but to me, this render is far from being usable:
one cannot adjust the frame interpolation in any way, so one cant compensate for artifacts and optimize it for certain content (SD, HD, anime, etc.). You cannot disable it either.
Overall GPU usage is pretty low though for me (GTX480). VRAM depends highly on the chosen renderer, because:
It is only an additional filter, not a proper renderer like madVR or EVR, as it requires these for scaling and presenting. So one may use it with madVR actually.
Shareware is a real killer too with rather lacking information. It is also not playing in the same league as SVP paired with madVR, which are both freeware.
Overall however, it does seem stable and the playback is smooth (aside from the frame interpolation stutters).
Playback Chain for reference:
Video: LAV Splitter -> LAV Decoder -> ffdshow filters -> Dmitri -> madVR/EVR/SYNC
Audio: LAV Splitter -> LAV Decoder -> ffdshow filters -> Reclock

You cannot disable it either.
I noticed, too.
The provided batch scripts to disable the filter doesn't actually disable it.
Maybe you have to reboot?
I uninstalled it and everything's back to normal.
It's not compatible with CodecTweakFilter so much at all.
I didn't really see any option to disable it there before uninstalling.

I didn't really see any option to disable it there before uninstalling.the scripts just register it as a service, so you can easily pick it in the external filters options, while other programs may use it as well. Once added in mpc though, it points to the absolute path of the filter. so removing it from the service list does nothing at that point. in order to disable it, while its still installed (and optionally registered as a service), just untick it in the external filters tab. :)

I actually didn't think to check MPC-HC settings for filters.
I disable everything there.

Guys stay away from this thing! You buy it then after you activate once it's locked! even if you do a few Windows updates it tells you that you made hardware changes and will lock the license so you can't watch anything unless you uninstall it or wait for the developer to unlock your license. It has a very strict licensing system more strict than any antivirus, Windows, or app I have ever seen in my life! If I buy a license, I want to be in control not to be at the mercy of some lame activation system.
Also, when there is any fast motion in a video, you notice around the object it is kinda fuzzy making the whole image look bad.
Regard,
Sasha

Just today, did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro SP1, installed all drivers, installed all programs including DmitriRender and activated it, then did all the Windows Updates, then the license was de-activated telling me I changed my hardware! Really? not even the Microsoft Office, Windows license, Antivirus license, or any other licensed app I have does this. I simply will not accept some small program especially a codec or rendered to leave me at their mercy! If I buy an app, I own that license and must be free to change whatever I want. it's not like I'm using it illegally.

Works great and I love the fact that it is very light and you don't need to install many other things to get it to work like ffdshow, AVIsynth, etc.
It has 1 small issue though, then object are moving fast in a movie, let's say a human running fast, you see around the edges of the object it's a bit fuzzy.....I hope a future version would fix this
Also, if he would update the licensing mechanism and not make it so strict, I'm sure I and many others would be happier and he would have less headaches with resetting keys for customers.

Right, you can uninstall the license then reinstall BUT it only allows you to do this 10 times because when I did this one time, it told me, number of de-activations left is 10! I just don't get it why you would impose such limits on customers who pay for your codec out of goodwill to support you.
Secondly, the other issue I ran into was a simple Windows updates rendered my license useless and wrongfully telling me that I changed my hardware when I didn't.
Thirdly, my laptop has an Integrated Intel HD Grahpics 4600 and two Radeon R9 M290X GPUs, so does that mean evertime I switch graphics cards when I am on battery power the license manager would think I switched hardware and de-activate my license? C'mon man that is way too strict for power users who have such high end laptops or people who format and reinstall alot for testing various drivers, hardware, etc.

I have no problem with DmitriRender licence when i swap my videocards. I think it locked to CPU / Motherboard / HDD / Windows. Not GPU.

There is many different licence types. E.g. Windows OEM licence don't allows you to deactive and transfer licence at all. You buy BOX version of DmitriRender or only activation key?
the other issue I ran into was a simple Windows updates rendered my license useless and wrongfully telling me that I changed my hardware when I didn't.
It looks like you got very heavy first cumulative update from february 2011 (Win7 SP1 release date) to october 2014 (now). May be it changed your HDD state from IDE to AHCI, and your HDD recognized as changed, or update is change South/North Bridge settings on the motherboard and all your devices looks changed, or something else.
people who format and reinstall alot for testing various drivers, hardware, etc.
Why you don't using trial mode? You have 30 day for this after format/install.

Again. Why you don't using trial mode? Why you activated DmitriRender immediately after Windows install?

If people truly wanted to pirate a program it would be cracked open by now, but right now someone is just treating their customers badly while providing a niche product.
There should be a way for the user to deactivate the license number if we're talking about something so finicky, unless you want people to literally tell people not to buy the damn thing as we've already seen in this thread.

im just saying this as the thread is still active:
dimitri is not a renderer like madVR, EVR, etc is. It is merely a filer that interpolates frames and forwards these to the actual renderer. Overall, the quality is very poor and it does not allow for any useful customization, not even providing a simple on/off switch. Everything can be done more effectively with SVP and madVR, outperforming dimitri in quality, performance and price (its free!) by a extremely large margin.
There is no reason to put money in this or actually pirate it: I simply do not want to use it. And neither should you.

SVP has lots of bugs. On my first computer i got "script cannot be opened". On second computer skipping forward/backward makes frozen my player. What do you want from free project? DmitriRender is more stable.
And i don't want to read tons of documentation to make this "magic customization". I just want to install and play smoothly movies, as DmitriRender does.

I don't have those issues.
Skipping will freeze if you skip a lot without letting it re-establish interpolation.
You can change one of the settings in SVP to reinitialize in 2 seconds after skipping to don't_reinitialize.
No idea about your "script cannot be opened" error.
Could depend on your OS, your install (vanilla, MT, SVP_mod, AVS+), the plugins you have installed, the source material (interlaced).
SVP isn't that hard to figure out. You don't need to read "tons of documentation".
I really didn't like Dmitri at all when I tried it.

I agree with you on that bug in SVP, I am a person who likes to quickly sometimes fast forward to different sections of the movie and with SVP that sometimes not only freezes the whole player, but if I was in full screen mode, then I cannot even access the task manager to end it so I am forced to do a forced shutdown. It handles seeking very bad and DmitriRender is superior in that!
But like others said, it's enough that DmitriRender is not free and I don't mind paying for the hard work and to support future development but somethins major should be done to this licensing system it is simply not accetable. If I own a license, I want to install the program and activate it once and be done with it. I don't want to use it as a demo then activate it when 30 days are over. This method is simply wrong. I know Dmitri has to protect his software but there are many other better ways. How do you think all those Software companies make money? they also have a license protection system. Take For example, Internet Download Manager (http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/), once you activate the license it recognizes your PC by the hardware and PC name, so next time if I try to activate, if the hardware/ PC name / Email address / license key matches, it will activate. Very simple, I don't like the feeling of being limited that I have 10 de-activations left or whatever, when I buy a key, I own that key and should be free to install the apps as many times as I want without waiting for support to get back to me by unblocking my key. Now I can easily re-buy a new key as it's only $10 USD but my issue is the whole concept is wrong.

Why you saying this words to us, but not to developer?
I think that only developer can say how much the replacement of the protection system will cost and how it technically difficult. And i prefer that developer will improve quality and support for another players, but not the another protection system. (Sorry, i can't feel your pain, because i has three years old installed Windows, and i don't reinstall it every week.)
And it's really funny that you previously compare Dmitri with Microsoft. He must be proud. I think that its budget is 0.000001 or less of Microsoft budget.

DRM kills puppies. There is no good kind of DRM. DRM always punishes those that paid for the product and not those that pirated it. Nothing good can come out of DRM - EVER!
Depending on the DRM, it can be okayish (cd-key thingy that works offline) or excruciatingly painful (e.g. always-online, limited amounts of activations, etc). However Dimitri set a new standard with this shoddy licensing mechanism. The worst of the worst.
Additionally, dimtri has nothing worthwhile to offer, thus nothing worthwhile to protect using the never working DRM bullshit that chains all legit buyers. A properly configured SVP outperforms dimtri by an extremely large margin (imo, dimtri looked horrible on my system). Of course, its easier for the lightweight users that doesnt want to bother with any settings whatsoever at all, however the time one must spend to properly get SVP up and running is time spent wisely. Time spent on that horrible reactivation mechanism certainly isnt.

Especially not when there's a completely free alternative (with several active and easily reachable developers) that is actually tweakable to suit your needs and which only breaks horribly if you have a severe case of movie player ADHD.

OK. Let's talk objectively.
What do you mean when you tell the word "quality"?
If you say about smoothness, DmitriRender is absolutely winner. SVP has worst smoothness.
If you say about software stability, DmitriRender is absolutely winner. SVP has bugs.
If you say about artifacts, SVP is winner only on hi-end systems with extreme CPU. On systems with 2-4 cores CPU and the AMD APU i think that DmitriRender win.
If you say about picture quality, i like DmitriRender picture more than SVP. With DmitriRender if the object is moving, it's moving. It's looks like hardware frame interpolation in a good TV. With SVP some parts of the object are moving, some parts doesn't moving, some parts are moving in backward direction. It looks a little like a jelly. May be it's because of heavy masking by default, but it isn't that i want to see. And for me smoothness drops sometimes looks more worst than artifacts.
I respect SVP developers. They makes the great thing, but we really have alternative here.
About performance. What do you mean? Please tell me more specifically what you don't like in the term of performance.
About licence. We already discussed it. You didn't buy DmitriRender and didn't activate it. How can you talk about things which you didn't touched?
I think that users which bought DmitriRender defenitely are fans.

OK. Let's talk objectively.
objective
adjective
5. not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts; unbiased:
"an objective opinion."
If you say about artifacts, SVP is winner only on hi-end systems with extreme CPU. On systems with 2-4 cores CPU and the AMD APU [u]i think that DmitriRender win.
If you say about smoothness, DmitriRender is absolutely winner. SVP has worst smoothness.
(because smoothness of frame interpolators can be called superior with a single unproved sentence, amirite)
The picture quality part was OK though, but in SVP's case it is also why they give you some options - since one size does not fit all.
Why? Well, you have grainy, unstable videos, anime, low-motion movies and high-motion movies, all of these differ from each other in one way or another.
And using options that work well for one can work out terribly for another source.
Good thing you can make your own presets in SVP just for such an occasion. :^)

It seems GPU IHVs are slowly integrating Realtime FRC test with Nvidia Maxwell :)

The Pans are super smooth and can be really nicely tracked with the eyes no visible tearing super smooth motion no visible artifacts :)

great program and I think the finished output is better than SVP, SVP uses Software Rendering (CPU) and maxes it out and my FAN goes crazy, however DR uses Hardware Rendering (GPU) and it almost maxes that out, but 1) the fan is almost silent, 2) the results are much better than that of SVP (which has much larger ringing artifacts around fast moving objects than DR...even on its highest quality setting)
- but I can also confirm DR is problematic with activation, it has twice automatically DE-ACTIVATED asking for activation... the owner blames my PC but I have many activated programs that do not do this... the activation is managed by a 3rd party
first time I simply reinstalled over the top as I had setting problems, after 14 days it asked me to reactivate, i contacted the owner who blamed my PC, so I used the 2nd activation you get with it???? and literally 2 months later it suddenly said (with no system changes at all) HARDWARE CONFIG CHANGE TOO MUCH SO LICENSE DEACTIVATED...??
cant activate it... awaiting devs reponse...but im betting he wont supply an activation code or reset it or whatever... try to force me to pay again for it...
edit: he's asked for the error report which reveals a bit too much info on your PC IMO - things like MAC and IP addresses are given out, Windows Key, the entire Identity of your system, and all crashes/errors - it was an 18MB text file!!! - Ive sent him it but told him Im not happy sharing all my private information with him

Does it work with 4K HDR UHD content?
If the input is 10bits, is the output also 10bits? :)

I agree, DR is better than SVP, unfortunately their license management is extremely annoying. I've contacted their support more than 10 times only for re-activating my license. Hope one day DR will fix their license management or SVP will catch up to provide equality product.

Btw, anyone tried the setting here with SVP : https://www.svp-team.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4187 ?
Someone has got the good result with the setting even with a mid-end PC.
If my dmitriRender license breaks again I will give it a try 8-D

I've been using similar settings for some time, when I started with this SVP was not able to adjust the frame rate to the refresh rate when it was higher, so I had to modify the base.avs script to blend the even frames with the odd frames. Apart from that the "1m" mode was not perfectly smooth, so I was using the "2m" mode at the expense of some more artifacts. The other settings are not that important. Now I have tried these settings with the original base.avs and the result is not smooth enough, but with the modified base.avs, the "1m" mode is now perfectly smooth and the artifacts are gone.

Use this to fix the green screen issue on GTX 10+ series cards, replace it with your dmitriRender.dat in C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Roaming\DmitriRender

If you have a black screen with new AMD cards you can use the same method with this file

Which settings you use for MadVR when using DmitriRender?
On mine PC (9900k + RTX 2070 Super), I cant go above NGU low (both for Chroma and Image scaling) on 4k monitor.
It seems very taxing for the GPU (scaling is set to 100% in DR settings).

So my DMR's license really has been broken again thanks to that stupid StarForce protection haha.
Now I'm switching back to SVP. Could you please share your config and the modified base.avs ?

Just add or change what is in red:
########## BEGIN OF base.avs ##########
# This file is a part of SmoothVideo Project (SVP) ver.4
# This is NOT the full AVS script, all used variables are defined via
# JScript code that generates the full script text.
function interpolate(clip src)
{
input = crop_string=="" ? src : eval("src."+crop_string)
input = resize_string=="" ? input : eval("input."+resize_string)
nvof==0 ? eval("""
super=SVSuper(input, super_params)
vectors=SVAnalyse(super, analyse_params, src=input)
smooth=SVSmoothFps(input, super, vectors, smoothfps_params, mt=threads, src=src)
smooth2=Merge(SelectEven(smooth),SelectOdd(smooth))
res=((smooth.Framerate <= 60)==true) ? smooth : smooth2
""") : eval("""
nvof_src = input.BicubicResize(input.width/nvof_blk*4,input.height/nvof_blk*4,src_width=-(input.width % nvof_blk),src_height=-(input.height % nvof_blk))
smooth=SVSmoothFps_NVOF(input, smoothfps_params, nvof_src=nvof_src, mt=threads, src=src)
""")
return demo_mode==0 ? res : demo(input,res)
}
input=last
stereo_type==0 ? eval(""" interpolate(input)
""") : stereo_type==1 ? eval("""
lf = interpolate(input.crop(0,0,input.width/2,0))
rf = interpolate(input.crop(input.width/2,0,0,0))
StackHorizontal(lf, rf)
""") : stereo_type==2 ? Eval("""
lf = interpolate(input.crop(0,0,0,input.height/2))
rf = interpolate(input.crop(0,input.height/2,0,0))
StackVertical(lf, rf)""") : input
########### END OF base.avs ###########
Then select Fixed 120.0 fps and "1m" mode, the other settings depend on performance.
This is of course for 60 Hz, you still should be able to interpolate to 60 fps without changing anything if you want.
