Hey people. I know that 3-rd pass gives almost no benefit and in some cases may even decrease quality (read that). I did 2 pass video but at the end found that some parts of whole project have messed up color range and need to do the last pass of encode again. But when I did 2nd pass the checkbox update stats file was enabled and before doing that I backed up older stats file with mbtreefile to another place.

So here is a question. Should I use backed up file OR use the last stats file which basically means that I will do 3-rd pass encode.

My video is kinda a slideshow with very often 1 second transitions (once per 6-7 seconds) is very long (50+ min), at the end has highly dynamic video and some other home video parts in the middle and has blackouts and lightouts (all frame lights to the white.)

Thank you.

The chances that it will make a difference are vanishingly small. You'd probably never see an actual difference between the two.
