View Full Version : Audio prob--encoding for the Archos AJBMM

Like the title suggests, I am encoding DVD to DIVX 4 in preperation for the launch of the new Archos portable Jukebox Multimedia which is set to debut in a few weeks. (If you are unfamiliar with it, check this out (http://www.archos.com/us/products/product_jbmm.html))

Anyway, the specs say the Divx files must have resolutions 352 x 288 or less. So I encoded a few movies using the gnot setup described in the guides on this site, and everything seemed smooth while playing in windows media player. Then I opened my new Divx in 'The Playa' and immediately had a problem, the audio just sort of loops in two second intervals like a skipping record. I have every codec known to man on my computer, and divx files I have downloaded always play flawlessly in 'Playa'. It's just the ones I make that do this. If I seek forward in the movie the sound that gets looped is half what I WAS on, and half what I am CURRENTLY on. As the video plays back flawlessly, the sound will then leap forward as well, but always in loop form, like a skipping record.

I would appreciate any help VERY much! Here is a log from a typical divx (O brother where art thou)that does this in playa (I am still new at this, so if you see anything else wrong in this log, please let me know : )

"The Playa" only supports CBR mp3.

Gknot defaults to ABR mp3, Doom9's guides recommend improved ABR mp3, and you could re-encode your audio in CBR by setting lame parameters to do so.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, that explains a lot...
