Why anyone doesn't take on the maintenance of the website ?

It's still here so clearly it is being maintained. :p
I suppose you refer to the guides part of the site. True, they are getting long in the tooth and need an overhaul. The main focus these days is on the forum, which remains vibrant.
Would you be willing to contribute to updating guides, etc.?

We have a "news" forum, where you (and anybody else) can contribute by posting relevant news.

As for the overdue update of www.doom9.org, IMHO removing all the broken links would be a good start (and not a terribly-difficult start TBH).

I like the old guides and format of the front site. Sort of nostalgia or a time capsule of DVD backup.
I consider forum.doom9.org to be the main site now. I think it is easy enough to keep up with updated news and new program releases by reading the different sections of the forum.

... I miss the Welcome/News Page, but am grateful the forum is still alive.
the news page was 33% of the reason i visited the site. i'm not talking about "new software updates" like videohelp but news in general about video and audio etc, at the time i contributed to one of the "foreign mirror" doom9 sites but work didnt allow me to spend much time updating it.
Would be nice to have the news section back, since the forum is now the main page, any chance of "mixing it up" in the forum page?

Hi guys, can anyone tell me if something has happened to thread tags, I dont seem to be able to find them
for editing (adding) in the 4 threads of mine that I examined.
I think in the past they have moved before, sometimes appearing to thread owner on the first post, and sometimes
only available when you go "Advanced" edit mode.
I dont seem to be able to even see the current tags never mind edit them (maybe being blind as a bat dont help).
Thank you in advance.

Hi Guys
I guess this one's for me. The reason why the news are not maintained anymore is time - I'm still interested in the topic and sometimes I miss being able to make snarky comments that get read by a wide audience, but my day job keeps me busy (too busy in fact) so that once I get home, there's no enough energy left to perform the "other work" on a daily basis.
The establishment of the news section was supposed to bridge that - but I guess a distributed solution doesn't work as well as a centralized one (it does take time to do the daily news.. I guess I spent at least an hour a day when I was active, and much more when writing guides).
Who knows maybe one day I'll get an easy job and can't wait to spend some more time typing away when I get home.. never say never.
