Hi,
This is a multi-part question.
1) I already do at least two compressibility checks, mainly to check whether the movie will look better with bilinear or bicubic resizing filters. My question is that the comp-check is also made at a certain resolution. When you change that resolution and the bits/pixel*frame and percentage change, is that an accurate representation even if you did not do a comp-check at that resolution? Should you re-do the comp check for each resolution you try?
2) After doing a comp-check, I have read that you should ignore the percentage shown and go with the bits/pixel*frame. Is this a valid practice? I personally have done rips that were in the yellow (not quite brave for red yet) and they have turned out good at the higher resolution.
The guides state to keep the bits/pixel*frame around .27 for a 2-cd rip. However, on one movie I did, doing this put the percentage very low (below 40%). It turned out fine with this setting, prompting me to believe the percentage doesn't matter after doing a comp-check.
Any feedback is appreciated...
