MPEG or AVI

Hi,

I'm capturing digital video from a mini-dv camera. I want to put it on a CD. I have encoded it using TMPG to MPG and burned it to a VCD using nero. The quality is so so.

I have left it as avi and the quality is really quite good...is there a way to encode this, or would I have to encode it to play on a non computer DVD player...that is a stand alone set top player?

A shove in the right direction would be appreciated.

If you want to play it on a standalone you will have to encode it either in vcd or svcd format. If vcd is not good in your opinion, try svcd.
