Step by step for 3D movies for dummies like me.

--The first step if you have an intel processor, and you're using a PCI-E graphics card, if not and you have an intel processor, your're already using it for your display and Quicksync is enabled)
---FIRST go to this site ( http://mirillis.com/en/products/tutorials/action-tutorial-intel-quick-sync-setup_for_desktops.html )

-- At the Mirillis site, under step 1 -- Check your hardware specification by clicking the
( http://ark.intel.com/#DesktopProcessors ) link and in the ARK Home search bar type in your processor ID. Mine was the i7 2600k, and when it pulls up your proccessor info, look under the Graphics Specifications and makes sure it says Intel Quicksync Video --YES---..If not then you're SOL and will need to use FRIM encoder in software mode, which will tale 12 hours or more to complete. If YES then you can check to see if there is any newer processor graphics drivers like I did for my Intel® HD Graphics 3000 display adapter. After making sure you have the newest one available, continue the Mirillis Intel Quick Sync Video Setup steps 1-10 and reboot. I have read that sometimes the newest display drivers will not work and if not you can try downgrading to the next newest version to see if that will fix it, just like you need to make sure you have the latest BIOS your motherboard supports also.

-- After you get the multiple displays extended then you can try out the 3D MVC encoders with BD Rebuilder by using AnyDVD to create a 3D iso. You then mount it using the free Slysoft Virtual CloneDrive or any other virtual drive and load that into BD_Rebuilder. If you have gotten Quicksync enabled then BD Rebuilder will automatically use it, unless you have FRIM_SW_DECODE=1 & FRIM_SW_ENCODE=1 in your ini file. I have seen in other peoples post's that they are getting really crazy FPS like maybe 75 to 200 fps but my older first gen i7 2600k only does around 12fps and takes about 3 to 4 hours to process a 2 hour 3d movie. Of course I have done like a dozen or so 3D's and all these have come out perfect with no pixellation or crosstalk. All are done in FULL backup mode and by blanking all extras and previews. I have only had one problem and that was on a 3D-2D disk and you had to restart the play in 3D twice to get the 3D one to play. I hope this helps those of you who like me kept getting the encode failed messages when attempting MVC encodes.

Just one correction/clarification. The default in BD-RB is FRIM_SW_DECODE=1 and FRIM_SW_ENCODE=1. So if you want to use Quick-Sync you have to set:

FRIM_SW_DECODE=0
FRIM_SW_ENCODE=0

My AMD FX-8350 is getting about 10fps in software mode...

Hi jdobbs, Thanks for the clarification. I had forgotten that I had changed it from the default long ago.
RE: My AMD FX-8350 is getting about 10fps in software mode...

I wonder how all these others are getting the fantastic framerates using quicksync. I'm not really complaining about my 12fps since I don't think 3 or 4 hrs. is really that bad when others are reporting 12 hrs. for older processors. It's just that I am wondering whether I need to think of getting a 4th gen i7 or not. The outrageous 100+ framerates have me lusting for one and also maybe then getting a 2pass HQ mode would be the ticket for 3D's. Hey, a guy can dream can't he? thanks, worknstiff

I was considering a new i7 w/Quick-Sync as well... but I decided I'm not really in that much of a hurry, and I don't do that many 3D backups.
