Both options have to be enabled (no idea what your default status is).
Then to the lower right you need to enter a full target file name with the desired extension (MP4 in your case), then click "Run Now" under "Actions" to the far right of the program window. Works each and every time here...

Every time I do what you state to do I get a job failed each and every time. Aside from dmMediaConverter being used is there something else I need to have installed to make this program run correctly? Another thing I do is uncheck copy that way I can change bitrate then I click on copy again then I give file a name such as Cadillac Records.mp4 then click run and then I instantly get job failed.
