View Full Version : TSMuxer setting to render rectangular pixels as square...?

Hello!
Is there a way to use TSMuxer (perhaps a setting) that will cause to to render native 1440x1080 that would normally in playback stretch horizontally across a 16x9 screen due to the rectangular pixels, instead would render the container (flags? / settings?) such that my Blu-ray player will 'see' it and play it as 4x3, instead of stretching it across the screen?
That way, I don't have to go back and re-rip my Blu-rays 'properly' and can use the backup encodes as they were done by my friend who 'helped' me to back mine up previously, unfortunately without the black bars in place as they should be.
Thanks!

The argument for the aspect ratio is "ar". You have to add it to the video meta data (it's also accessible through the tsmuxer gui).
For example:
V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC, "E:\Stuff\TestClips\test.264", insertSEI, contSPS, ar=4:3

Thanks mate!
I don't really know the CMD line stuff; could you please tell me which settings to change in TSMuxer?

When you add a video stream you'll see the combo box for setting "AR".

Thank you Groucho!
So, I just input or choose '4x3' in that box and then render the file into a BDMV folder, right?

Yes, that should do it.

I thought that 4:3 is not possible with 1080, and the native 1440 (like eg HDV) has to be (at playback) stretched to 1920 to respect 16:9 DAR.

Yeah, I know... THAT is precisely what I was trying to get around if possible :)
Actually, this last time I grouped a bunch of MKV files into BDRB to make it a playable Blu-ray with a simple menu, with 2 of the 3 files all of the sudden I couldn't use my chapter stops (stepping forward or backward) for some NEW mysterious reason. So, I figured, 'The Heck with it!' If I can't even use my 'Next' & 'Previous' buttons, then what is the use of going to all the trouble to put them in a Blu-ray format if I can't even do that?
So, I think I'm just gonna toss that idea and when I group MKV backups together on a Blu-ray, just burn them as 'Data' files. Because when playing it back with my OPPO Blu-ray player, I have the separate movies shown that I can select anyway, so I'll just stay with that I think. That way, I do not have to worry about whether the AR is precisely correct or not, the MKV files will play back just fine. I'll just hafta skip the convenience that I USED to have when I used MultiAVCHD of being able to skip through the chapters. No big deal I guess.
Appreciate all the help and suggestions though!
Cheers!
