Problem with the aspect ratio:

I have a 4:3 TV which can switch to 16:9 (smaller picture) What aspect ratio should I use? If I use 4:3 the picture looks wrong, but when I change to the 16:9-ratio, the black bar from the Movie is brighter than the bar from my TV. When I lower the brightness of the TV, the picture is way too dark. I know, that there is no possibility to make a svcd with fullscreen on a 4:3 TV, but can someone tell me the best settings for a 4:3-TV?

Thanks,

Michi

thought this was clear in the newbie reference ..guess not

a) full = 4:3
b)widescreen = 16:9
c)anamorphic = 16:9
d) a & c = 4:3 if it says letterboxed

Now if you have a widescreen TV then it's a different story
but most likely you'll want to choose 4:3..but that's what that long thread is all about.
