Duhhhhhh. It was a bluray disc, in a DVD drive.

==============

I have a Criterion disc, Yojimbo, that won't load in my PC. The disc plays fine in my standalone Samsung DVD player that's connected to the TV. I have two dvd drives, both working properly with every other disc, and this disc just won't load. It's as if with this disc in the drive, there's no disc in the drive. What the hey?

the drives:
Pioneer DVR-218L
Lite-On iHAS524

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Including the possiblity that this should be posted in the hardware forum.

Strange that a DVD player could accept a BD disc, anyway.

It's both, DVD and bluray.

You mean you put the wrong disc in?

To the best of my knowledge, there's never been a release that has a DVD+BD layer in one disc.

That said, I can't confirm it ever was released. But, I don't see why it wouldn't have been, either. The technology did exist.

Would someone please close this thread??? Or better yet, delete it?

Lyris and DrinkLyeAndDie: No.
When I said "It's both, DVD and bluray" it was in response to Ghitulescu.
S/he said, "Strange that a DVD player could accept a BD disc, anyway."
I said, "It's both, DVD and bluray."
I was talking about the DVD player -- the standalone thing hooked to my TV, which played my disc in the first place.
I was NOT talking about the disc.

JUST TO BE CLEAR:
I made a mistake.
I lost track and didn't notice the label on my disc.
I thought the disc was a DVD and tried to read it in a DVD drive in my PC.
Little did I know, it was actually a bluray disc.
I put the bluray disc in a DVD drive on my PC.
It didn't play.
I stupidly created this post.
After that I discovered my mistake.
