I hate creating a new thread for this program, especially when it's still in beta, and the fact that the forum is so clean as it is. However, I have a few nagging questions that I'd really like answered by either the author or one of the helpful other members of this forum out there.

First of all, I just bought a BluRay burner this year with my income tax return. I tried other software, but didn't really like the quality of the output's when I'm trying to make backups of my movies. I prefer to store my originals somewhere safe, usually in the basement, and play my backups so the risk of damaging the originals is diminished. I"m thrilled to have found BD-Rebuilder and have already advertised it's greatness to my friends.

My first question has to do with the storage. A few of my movies are already less than 25gb when ripped, so they were an easy 1:1 copy back to a BD-R. However, some of them are much larger and require BD-Rebuilder to re-encode them. Using pretty much the default settings, I've found them to be of adequate quality. However, the final encodes to ISO are typically in the 23gb range. Is there any way I can configure BD-Rebuilder to use more space, thus improving the picture a little more? I feel like I'm getting cheated out of 2gb of data. If there is a way, what is a good size to configure for?

My second question actually has more to do with quality but not related to the storage available. I've been a huge fan of DVD Shrink for a long time. One thing that I particularly like about it is the ability to change the ratio of how much quality to give each individual aspect (Menus, Extras, Movie). I typically shrunk down the quality ratio as low as possible for the Menu's and Extras, since the important part was the Movie and I wanted it to look as good as possible. Does BD-Rebuilder do this already just behind the scenes or would this be something for a request to be added to a future version? I've looked at the logs, and in a lot of cases it looks like small clips like for menus are just directly 1:1 copied and not "shrunk" in anyway. If it's possible to get more quality out of the movie by shrinking the extra stuff more, I'd be all for it.

Again, please be nice in responding to this thread. If it needs moved, please just move it to the correct place. I don't want to piss anybody off or sound completely ignorant. I appreciate any help you guys may have for me!

First, don't get confused between 25 GB decimal and 25 GB binary. Leave the default size as is for now.
As for the extras, try Mode>Quicker Encode For Extras. You can search the Bug thread for more information on how to use CRF encoding on the extras in this mode.
As for the menus, not an expert and I may be wrong, but I don't believe it is a good idea to re-encode BD menus, might mess them up.

HI!

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not too worried about it, everything works great as it is. I'm just looking to get a little more "oomph" for my encodes. :)

Currently the only adjustments I've made was to configure the settings to not convert any audio. I looked and I do have a check in the menu option for "Quicker" Encode for Extras. I'm also using the "High-Speed Option (BD-25+)". I found that the extra quality options (more time) used to make a backup just takes more time but didn't make a visibly better encode (at least for my own preferences). There are some options below that in the Encoding Options flyout menu that say "One Pass ..." and those are both unchecked. In my experience with "shrinking" i've found that one pass rarely makes a good encode.

Quick encode for extras can be found under mode menu. When you launch program it is last setting what you need to look for.
