Would anyone recommend a good video screenshots maker that is freeware or at a small fee. I've tried a lot but hardly find any that could suit my need.
I've tried ez_thumb. It's free, small and fast but it doesn't allow much configuration. It gives big files and the screenshot pictures are very long in height.
I've tried thumbnail me. It's good but many kinds of files are not supported.
Any better alternatives?

MPC-HC has a good thumbnails generator. You can set the total width of the final image in addition to the number of rows and columns. The jpg files it produces are very reasonably sized too.

Yep, that address is correct.
It is a media player, however, it has a feature inside it to generate thumbnails. Its simple too. You just load up a video file, click File -> Save Thumbnails...

I use MTN (http://moviethumbnail.sourceforge.net/). Doesn't require any installation and can be easily run using a .bat file processing many files in one go.
You can configure most things you need and no annoying watermark.
Any format supported by ffmpeg should work.
