I'm trying to convert an MP4 file (AVC; 1,420,152kb) into an AVI file and the resultant file is split into 2 avi files: File A is 2,048,863kb and File B is 187,685kb.
Why is that? any limitation on file size? Thanks.

Old versions of the AVI file format / standard / specification imposed a file size limit of 2 GB. Since then, there's newer versions of the standard that get rid of that limitation.
The software you use may choose to maintain that compatibility by using the old version of the standard/specification. Check options, the software may allow you to not split the file.

Also, we can help you better if you tell us the software you are using.

Thanks for the quick replies. Sorry, I thought erroneously that i'm in a MEGUI only sub-forum. Well I gave it away: I'm using MEGUI version 2418. The AVI I'm outputing is MPEG-4, Xvid. Any ideas?

Last time I checked MEGUI doesn't support OpenDML with the version of XVID that is included. Try PMing Zathor to ask about the current status.

Why do you want AVI files? They've gone the way of the buggy whip.

Select "PC" as the device output type (default is "standard") and it will not split anymore at 2GB. Be aware that some hardware players cannot play such files.

If possible avoid the AVI container.
