DSLR for Video

Hey,

Recently while shooting I dropped my JVC camcorder. Up until now I have used a Canon 350D for stills and the JVC for 1080p.

However, from what I am reading I think I would be better off selling the 450D (I think I can probably get maybe $100 for it?).

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a camera for around $500 to 750 that has:

Essential:
* A 3.5mm microphone in without Auto Gain Control (rules out most of the Canons with stock firmware from what I have read).
* 24fps shooting capability
* 1080p
* The ability to disable auto aperture changes while recording

Would be nice:
* Decent handling of low (or at least - indoor) light
* 60fps shooting capability
* A good built in microphone
* 2k recording being downscaled to 1080p (I have read the Canons upscale from 972p to 1080p).


I am not overly concerned about megapixels, I don't do huge crops or print larger than A3. My phone claims to be 13MP... despite the lens being only a few mm. I would rather have a good 12MP than a poor 21MP.

Any suggestions? I have been looking at the Nikon 3300? What are the Sony and Panasonic DSLRs like?

Within EU, for customs reasons, all photocameras are limited to 30 minutes of non-stop shooting. This is the only solid argument why one shouldn't use a DSLR (well, the auto-focus and some video-specific issues might also count).

That sucks... are there any that can easily have their firmware modified in order to remove this limit?

If you are not really that interested in low DOF stuff, i'd probably byte into the small blackmagic camera;

(Currently using 7d, I think auto-gain problem was fixed in latest firmware btw)

Get an USA model, you'd also get other fps al well (like 24p) if they were not already in the EU model, maybe at the expense of the usual 25p/50i.
