what is the suitable setting for rc_lookahead

when i turn on mb-tree, what is the suitable number that i should put for rc_lookahead? higher will be better?

Just stick to the standard settings/presets. You can see them via "x264.exe --fullhelp". Default is 40.

Higher is maybe a small amount better, if you have the RAM no need to keep it low if you feel like playing with it.

i want to make a dvdrip or hdtvrip to 600kbps
and yesterday i try to set until 100 the encoding speed is still 20fps so i wonder if set it higher is better then i will keep it
