Any MeGUI\x264 encode I do, invariably has aspect ratio issues which stretches the image into a single pixel line. For some reason, the video display width gets inflated (for example, 959760 instead of 960) which distorts the display aspect ratio. I suspect this may be due to remote control software which extends the desktop over connected PC's.

Editing MKV headers manually (with MKVMerge) to correct the video display width doesn't solve the problem. Only after demuxing with MKVCleaver and then remuxing with MKVMerge, adding --engage remove_bitstream_ar_info in the video track's\Extra options\User defined options field, will the video play back cleanly on all players.

As you may imagine, this is no fun. Especially when ripping seasons.

Is there any way to force MeGUI to not write display aspect ratio info into the bitstream?

You should post the log file from one of those encodes.
