Just wanted to warn everyone, ever since MPC had the LAV decoder integrated internally, I can never get LAV to work

If i setup LAV and choose CUDA, when playing a movie, rightclicking on the screen to see which filters are on, all I see is ffdshow and nothing about LAV

If I install the LAV codecs manually, then even when choosing CUDA, I always see DXVA at the bottom of the MPC-HC Window

That's why I switched to MPC-BE which doesn't have this crappy integration of LAV and always play LAV/CUDA right

It works for me, at least. And IIRC, currently, MPC-HC will display DXVA status for any kind of hardware-accelerated decoders being used.

Also, I find it funny when someone doesn't know how to make a software working properly, they always call that software crap.

because it has always worked with CUDA before this LAV integration.

why must it show DXVA if you choose LAV/CUDA? makes absolutely no sense

MPC-BE doesn't have this issue

LAVs CUDA mode is just another way to access DXVA, all hardware acceleration on Windows uses DXVA.

hmm, I never knew that, I thought DXVA uses CPU power to work and CUDA uses your GPU :stupid:

Reset all settings (http://i.imgur.com/puStpYn.png) will make internal LAV come back. :)

The fact DXVA is in the list of hardware decoders in the LAV video configuration didn't give it away? ;)
Well DXVA2, to be precise.

If you open the video decoder configuration from MPC-HC's options after opening a video and Nvidia cuvid is selected as the hardware decoder, it'll display as "active" when hardware decoding is being used. MPC-HC will display DXVA in the status bar.

LAV integration works for me just as the internal filters worked before LAV. If a particular transform filter is selected, LAV is used to decode that type of video or audio. If it's de-selected, something else does. ffdshow in my case.

the reports of DXVA in the status bar in the old mpc hc just wasn't that accurate.
